Yeah, but that simply proves they didn't read the rules.

Nah, it was around before this contest, a few contests prior actually.

Edit: It was under "How to submit a level" though, so I guess they did not read that part properly.

Does it really matter in this case whether he read the rules or not? You get a point reduced no matter whether you read them or not. You're just less likely to do it if you actually read the rules, but that broken rule alone does NOT justify his disqualification. :/

I thought the red rules meant a disqualification if broken. The mp3 rule was orange, so rather than being disqualified, shouldn't he have simply lost a point?
