I'd ask him...err... it, but, being a Bot I don't expect to get any straight answers that way.
Basically Xanos/Mithos is checking if you're a bot.
It would seem that Xanos is the only one of us all who knows the truth about Squishy. Squishy could have been a bot this whole time and we'd never know. Does anyone dare to ask Xanos the Mighty?

TBH, I don't think the forums should have been archived.
One of the reasons was technically Joey's fault anyways, because he made the rule. Or not, it depends on the person who came up with the rule in the first place. Plus it go un-stickied and/or deleted, so people probably didn't know it was there.
The others I can see why though. Seriously, all you need to make recolors is a palette and Paint.Net. Even then, people who aren't experience enough would probably want some help, which is where the graphic requests come in.
If a subforum isn't right, then at the very least make a thread to request graphics.

Actually, I came up with the concept and drafted the template. The other staffers merely said "yay or nay". It was un-stickied and archived for this reason. It wasn't being followed and was being ignored (with the exception of about two people). It was posted there for nearly a month, so plenty of people would have seen it. If everyone sees the announcement of the forum being archived, I can guarantee they would have seen the new rules. They were removed with the attempt to revise them in a hope that maybe people won't neglect them. Unfortunately, people ignoring the rules can't exactly be rectified without jamming them down their throats, and that's not going to happen.
Besides, as Joey said, the forum was a mess, full of somewhat ridiculous requests (not that all of them were) and double/triple posts because people can't be patient. It was the one forum that had no rules to its own, so really this should have been expected from day dot, but that said, it had been fully discussed, and at this point there seems to be no other way to solve the issue at hand. Besides, people can merely PM others for help with graphics.

Honestly, I really think just PMing someone for graphics is a bad solution. Normally, the requester puts up a request and someone comes up to him to help him. Now, the requester comes up to someone who may not be interested in the request at all, leading the requester to PM a lot of users without finding someone to help him. Actually, I feel like those users would actually find that quite annoying.
Even worse, some people (like me at times) would really want to help, but can only do that now if they're specifically asked by the requester. This limits the choice of stuff people that want to do requests can take care of, and I really don't feel like that's an adequate replacement.
I feel like the reason the template wasn't really used is because it was really not that necessary tbh. It didn't really change anything, especially considering how most requests already had all the relevant information.
The Requests subforum should've gotten a proper ruleset, where stuff like recolors should be forbidden from being requested, and some requirements as to what information should be given - like graphic style and some kind of reference image, or regulations as to when you can bump topics.
Yes, the Requests forum never had a proper ruleset, but that's the mods' thing to change. I agree that Recolor requests are pointless, but that's why you set up rules. You gave up on the Request form way too quickly, and should've just gone the full way and make it an actual ruleset. If it was called "Graphic Request Rules" or something, I can guarantee you people would've beeb way more likely to read it.
Lastly, while I still think archiving the Introductions subforum was a good thing, I really don't think so about the Requests subforum, after all this one actually produced content.

IIRC we already made it a rule to not ask for recolors, but people did it anyway. Even if we did come up with rules, nobody would read them. Idk why it is so common place on this forum to post before reading, but it's going to have consequences like this situation.
I don't think PMing is a good idea either though. I think making a thread for requests like Murphmario said would be better, but we'll wait and see.

Graphic requests naturally attract people who want a playable Sonic or all of the NSMB tilesets. These people are trying to do something crazy when they usually haven't made a good level yet with the other graphics that are already available. It's an example of "knowing the rules before you can break them" - you have to make a good level with a playable Mario before you can make one with a playable Sonic. Graphic requests are not going to come back in any form because that would defeat the purpose of removing it.

I have an idea: lock topics that don't follow the rules and give warnings to users who repeatedly break the rules. Also, keep the rules stickied so users can find them easier.

You could make that a rule, too.

To be honest I prefer using PMs to handle requests.

It would be a idea that the staffs lock the Contest thread until the results to prevent anymore shitposts and more bc half of the thread is clogged with them thats only my idea and opinion about it though.
Oh yeah i even did a reply about it in it and people ranted about it to me. Thats kinda funny actually shows that some members don't like it much when you have a opinion or idea like "hey let's pls stop wasting up space here"
But tbh i just laught about it now everytime i see it bc hey this is the www not everyone here can handle others opinion and stuff so yeah what do i expect?
And i think this is one of the huge issues on this forum also, to respect others and their opinion and stuff bc i don't see much respect to a lot of people here.
I go ahead now and see how much hate this post gets now and all my words are gonna get turned against me.
Done with my rant about it.

I had to step in because it was starting to get out of hand and an argument was sparked. It's nothing against you or your opinion.

I don't think she was talking about you, you were just doing your job.

Everyone here has a good point. It's not as big as a mistake as the roleplays imo.
Also, I'm fine with the ads as long as they don't take up the entire screen or are voiced.

Regarding the duplicate topics thread: it likely wouldn't be much of a problem if nearly every word or term that is relevant to the forums were wasn't ignored by the search engine due to being "too common." Then users won't have to shuffle through every single page to find out whether or not the topic exists. As long as the topic hasn't dipped past 5 pages, I think it shouldn't matter.

It's not hard to search and just look a little bit more. That would fix most of the problems, such as people creating multiple Mario Maker threads.

People would be more up to searching if the easiest way to search wasn't broken. Why don't you search through 3-5 pages of posts looking for what you need do, assuming you don't accidentally skip over it the first time. I'm not saying it's hard. I'm saying it's boring and tedious and that not very many users on this forum have the attention span to look for very long.

The search isn't "broken". It's working exactly as it should be. I could probably make it so that it doesn't ignore words like "Mario" but, at the end of the day, what would that get us (besides potentially longer search times, I would guess)? If it's ignoring really useful search terms then that's a different story, but I tried searching for "Mario Maker" and the search clearly displayed the discussion on Mario Maker that already exists.
Duplicate topics, like with double posting, isn't an issue if it happens sparingly. We can just merge the topics. The problem is that we've been seeing it too much lately and having to merge so many topics is annoying.

Guessing this is the closest thing to a (minor) bug report thread we have so posting this here: apparently we can't post on global topics if we access them using the archive forums/subforums. I also can't access global topics through "Search user's posts" because it tries to access them through forum 0, which doesn't exist/is not viewable to regular users I suppose.

Yeah, that's a phpBB bug that is fixed in the newer version. We've had problems with it pretty much since the creation of this forum. Sorry!

Okay i suggest it again after i read the cc thread again.
I really suggest that we lock it as soon the judge phase begins. I know some others tell people to stop shitposting but nope.
The whole thing leads into shiposting and post farming.
You don't have to do it or take it it's only a idea.
