For Sonic i meant as a costume for Mario. I know he would be complex as a stand alone character, so, why not a costume?

Besides i couldn't think of other ideas off the top of my head.

We can use custom graphics.

Had some more thinking beyond characters such as King Knight, and as a idea for the full release, may I suggest adding Triclyde and Clawgrip from SMB2, King Dedede from Kirby, SMW Bowser, and Large Fry from Wario Land series (as like a aerial Wart) as bosses, as well as the following enemies.

Boomdinero (Wario Land Shake It, acts as a enemy that acts like a Charging Chuck but also acting as a container holding a potential enemy or Power-Up within ala how it worked in Wario)
Met (Mega Man, acts just like a Met in Mega Man, maybe with a variant that shoots three bullets and a Swim Metall that bobs up and down in water and shoots bullets)
Ant Trooper (Mario, comes out of a Ant Trooper spawner NPC and walks a designated path, used for platforming by bouncing on them, can also come in Spiked Ant Trooper and big Ant Trooper variants)
Nosedozer (Wario Land Shake It, acts like a Blue Shy Guy, but when thrown stops in the air, before rocketing forward like a drill and breaking any soft blocks in the way, only stopping for a wall or a enemy)
Cappy (Kirby, the cap hops like a Ninji and can be spinjumped on without it being hurt, the same cannot be said about the actual Cappy body, which can be destroyed by a simple jump at the cost of the cap)
Spray Fish (YI, pushes the enemy in a angle set by the player via rapid water, could be put onto line guides as well to make it a useful asset)
Waver (Metroid, acts like a Swooper who is immune to everything but hammers, bombs, and Samus's blasts, but due to the innate being stuck to a certain altitude that comes to Wavers, this can be used to your advantage by spin jumping on it to get over gaps)
Blocknt, Flurret, and Ring Burners (All made by Enji, think they could probably work for the full release)
And last but not least... Buzzbomber (from Sonic, acts just like how you think they would)

Not bad ideas, i'll say that much.

No offense but I'd say the game is already pretty ample.
What is actually planned for the character rehaul before the full release?

- Less niche/janky abilities
- 2-player support between any 2 characters, or 2 of the same kind
- larger reworks of the "weakest links" to improve versatility and usability

To be a bit more concrete, here are some things I remember from previous conversations in Codehaus:
- Hoeloe's idea for Zelda involves her resetting parts of her own state, rather than that of the environment (braid style)
- My idea for Bowser involves making him more of a powerhouse, like in Smash, retooling his moveset around using the minions as ammo for ranged attacks
- Ninja Bomberman will be retooled to become a more Meatboy-like character. There are some ideas floating around, such as Madeline or a character from Dustforce.
- I'll probably make King Knight over one of the two unused slots. (There'll probably be a character custom range introduced as part of the update)
- Rosalina's jumps will definitely become less horrid
- Snake will become more mobile, resembling something like the playstyle in Mark of the Ninja more closely.

Are there any more npc we should be expecting to become deprecated in the final release?

Let's see if I'm still able to make at least 1 full level, I haven't touched the level editor in 2-3 years so....

I also saw Rinka being replaced with a Touhou character in the progress sheet, is that still a thing?

At the current stage, all of these are just ideas I remembered, not promises. There may have been more ideas I forgot, and some of them may be outdated or misremembered in some way. It's been a long time since we talked about these things.

Beta 4 is released. Hooray!

Hi there guys, long time no see! I am now King Mario but I used to be Grand Goomba! I'm so hyped for B4, but I think for now I'll continue to do my project MaLC in B3, as easyluna.lua may never be upgraded to B4 unless Pixelpest decides to work on it again, which would be nice, but until then I'll stick to B3 for the easyluna.

Sorry for the year-long holdup, the old computer got sold and this is a new one which now belongs to me, plus I had some trouble re-enacting my account. Fortunately, I've solved the problem and now I'm back!

Kudos to the SMBX Team Members! Their time certainly hasn't been wasted. :)

I suppose I could use PowerUpGuard.lua if I knew how to use it. What are the steps for loading this?

Step 1: You copy the files into your Episode Folder.

Step 2: You create Luna.lua in the Episode Folder

Step 3: You write this:

Code: Select all

local powerupGuard= API.load("powerupGuard");
function onStart()
  end
in the Luna.Lua File.

I wouldn’t pay much attention to what that guy said, looks like he made this account so far for the only purpose to tells us that he probably dislikes 2.0 for some reason since he doesn’t like the moly3 thread also.

Hello. I really liked this project. But I want to ask one stupid question. How to change the screen resolution in the game? There were no graphics settings in the game client. I would also like to know if the game has V-sync support? When the character runs fast, the screen shivers like jelly.

No vsync, as far as I'm aware. I've never experienced screen-shivering either, though, so that surprises me.
To change the resolution of the window, you can drag the edges. There's no box for window sizes to select from (though I suppose it would probably not be too difficult to add as long as they're multiples of 400x300...)
