New Splatoon news!

Tomorrow, on 7/1 at 7 PM PT, a new Ranked Battle will be added to the game! This new mode is called Tower Control. Hop aboard the tower placed in the middle of the map, and ride it to your opponent’s goal. stay sharp—you’ll have to protect whoever’s riding the tower from enemy attacks!

Once someone jumps onto the tower, it starts moving along a set path toward the other team’s goal. If the tower doesn’t arrive at either goal before time runs out, the team that’s moved it closest toward their opponent’s goal wins. Ride the tower all the way into the other team’s goal though, and you’ll get a decisive knockout victory.

This is that payload mode I was telling you all about. I personally think I'll still stick to playing Splat Zones, but this looks fun too.

OOOOOOHH. I interpreted the "payload" part as something else. I remember seeing this mode being mentioned in some discussion video about the upcoming features for the game.

I use(d) the Aerospray MG mainly because I fucking love seekers. Since most maps aren't very huge, they're very good for clearing thin paths across the map, possibly even the ENTIRE map. I clear a long path with the seekers, then go down the new path, which pretty much regenerates my ink again, and repeat.
The Kraken Roller is also pretty good, but I can't seem to get the hang of the actual kraken.

Yeah, but that's the problem I have with these people. Everyone uses that gosh darn strategy and it feels like I'm fighting the same enemy every match. All I have to do is shoot the seeker trail, and reveal the gunner and shoot them. It's so boring...

It's not like I follow the ENTIRE path. I realize I'd be easily tracked down and so I stray from my own path. Even then, it's not much of an issue anyways because 99% of the time I die to unavoidable surprise roller attacks.

Sorry, all you have to do is cut the Aerosprayer off and he is done for.

Also, I am hyped for the new playmode tower control, I am hyped and scared for a new mode. Who knows how many ways it'll be abused.

I'm too tired to go downstairs and turn on the Wii U, so could you tell me whether or not you can choose which gamemode you would like top play at any one time? Also, part of me feels like there's less room for strategy in Tower Control than Splat Zones. Is this the case?

Either way, I'm glad that you're hype about the new mode. Splatoon is great.

You can't choose between the two. And there is a lot more combat skill involved and kinda makes inkstrikes useless and Echolocators pretty good. The skill is trying to keep up with the tower or defending it when sailing into enemy territory.

On an unrelated note to Tower Control, I walked into Turf Wars for a bit earlier and somehow got 11 kills and the most points. I still don't know how.

I'd say go for it. By now it has a lot more content than it had at launch, and who knows what might actually get added until your birthday comes up. It's the most fun I've had with my Wii U since Smash tbh.

There a crap ton of new stuff coming out in august. So even if you don't have fun now, you can have a super awesome happy fun time with friends dressed as sushi chefs in august.

Holy shit the Final Boss of the singleplayer is great, imo the singleplayer of this game is really underrated.

But of course online is the main focus and it sure delievers.

You can say that again! "I'ma remix your face!" is one of his best lines!

What sucks is that in the European translation (even the English one), he is really cliché and not as unique, which kinda sucks.

Regading the multiplayer, Moray Towers is a cool map, Tower Control is still way cooler than Splat Zones and I've been mostly using the .56 Gal Deco lately.
