When working on a level, I usually make it around SMW's level length. I feel like it works perfectly, personally; the level's long enough to explore a new idea without dragging on for too long.
I have no problems with playing long levels, but I tend to give up when the level starts to become repetitive; I wouldn't have any problem with a level that exceeds 10 minutes if it manages to be interesting throughout, but it's extremely hard to manage that.

I am very picky about level length. Also i always feel like my levels have to be 7-10 minutes long.

I do 3-15 minute levels. Saying about 15, it can be even in final level in the game (and yes I always put midpoints).

My levels are usually around 3-6 minutes linear and 4-8 minutes nonlinear.

Welp, I guess we can continue this and act like this never happened,
If the level you are creating is short, at least make it memorable.

I think episode levels should take about 2-3 minutes to complete. So basically, they should be pretty short. I think this keeps things fresh for the player, and allows the designer to make more levels overall (or at least they could, because they would have more time to spend on different levels rather than just one).

He's using his phone.
It's the only way to avoid a Perma-ban.

Not true. That would only work if he had a ban set on just his IP.

Back when the forums were hacked when every one was banned, I never log onto the forums on my computer an then since I was never loged on, I tried to view the forums on my computer, and it said banned when it would of been impossible for to get my ip! Not logged on, never logged on! Could not even view the forums! So phone does not help!
Back on topic: I prever four hour levels if the check-point system is fair!

People, this is not a conversation about a Banned Member here and how he even post at this time of the day is because I bumped the Topic so the latest Message jumps up to the time where I last bumped it (this is why it Looks like he posted at this time but in realtiy it was a bump instead of a new post)... somewhat like making a post but it was a bump in the process.
@MECHDRAGON777: 4 Hour Levels are nothing to be found around here... for an SMBX Episode it surely works but not really for anything else. Also, if a Level really requires that Long you are already hitting the Limitation of the Placements and it can easily Crash the game depends of it unless you know how to not overuse your Placements especially blocks. Do not worry as on PGE it give you the possibility to add more and if the Engine is fully finished, it will be a possibility to make and Play that Kind of Level but even then, everything has a limit.

Good idea because everyone can play a level for four hours straight.
And it totally will not be annoying if you get a game over.

Unless you know how to execute a Level like that without being annoying and having to get through it in one sitting.
I never would make a Level that takes 4 Hours to beat. I only make like 1-6 Minutes Levels (depends of the Design Theme and the Relations of an SMBX Episode). Sometimes more than 6 Minutes but oh well. Unknown in General.

I have attempted on making in or cc8, but never did, my point is that I prever longer levels beciase there is more play time! I can easily record the entire thing!

*bragging intensifies*
I doubt you'll be able to make a 4 hr long level appealing and fun all the way through, especially with the block limit.
Also, the CC8 judges sure were lucky you decided for something rational.

It is better to split them into multiple Level Parts including Checkpoints along the way instead of having it into one single Level and hitting Close to the Limit. So far, one SMBX Episode (Mario Prime - The Saga - Created by @Reign) did this Kind of stuff perfectly by having multiple Checkpoints along the way and also multiple Levels connected to eachother and I find this very clever. If you are doing something like that, it prevents from having a very Long Level like what you have mentioned with 4 Hours and also prevent it from playing the whole game in one sitting but oh well.
Nintendo Levels are usually 1-4 Minutes Long... can be longer or even shorter than that but often by that direction.
