Hello! Welcome to the forums!
The problem here is that you didn't set the strength for trembling.
Thank you very much for the welcome
I don't think that is the problem though, i can show you another example:
I tried setting the strength in the opening tag both as <tremble [strength=3]>, and <tremble 3> (I found the documentation for textblox and guessed that the syntax could be similar for textplus), but it looks as if the tags aren't even parsed.
Can i put tags in text via the properties in Moondust, or do i have to do it some other way?

The message box override feature of the devkit is opt-in - it doesn't do anything unless you enable it. There should be a readme with instructions in the devkit download. The font used in that feature is different to the font in the screenshot you showed, so you don't currently have it enabled.

My level folder automatically has a "level.lvlx.bak" file and a "progress.json" file. Is it necessary to delete them?

Just don't include them in the submission
Also here's the traditional reminder that submissions close AT 6PM GMT ON AUGUST 15TH, which is about 3 days and 3 hours from now.

"Just don't include them in the submission"
Isn't the same thing of remove that files or delete them?

Yes, that's what he means. Delete them when you are gonna post the level to the thread.

Will the pack of submitted levels be available?

How will results be formatted? Will it be like the 2021 Vanilla Contest where the top 3 are on the thread and the rest are on a google sheet? Or more like previous contests with a new tier being revealed each day? I’m more so looking for clearance on this though I’d personally favor the former, I’m wanting to know.

Once Valentine has confirmed all the levels are functional there will be a pack.

I just noticed that I somehow neglected to include my level's folder in my submission (that's what I get for not double-checking the actual zip file) so I guess that disqualifies my entry.

Dang, that's unfortunate... Is it still possible for you to contact Valentine or has she already sent the levels to the judges?

All The Levels
here's the set of levels given to the judges
if your level has something wrong with it at this point it is either because:
-You included the devkit with your submission
-You modified original devkit files, making your level incompatible
There will be no more changes
if your level is missing entirely then uhh
im an idiot and yell at me

There are a lot of good levels, in which a lot of them are better than the previous year's contest.
My bets are on
- Clouddrop Paradise (vibrant design),
- kazoo (a first run&gun level),
- The Hexakeep (an interesting theme with vast explorations, though the boss fight music is in a different location) and
- Untouched Garden (good story and atmosphere)
They did spectacularly, with something out of the ordinary, even though there are a lot of other levels that use different themes.
A lot of honourable mentions too.
- Blastwood Facility (barrel stuff),
- Chomp Chomp Mountain (jumping chain chomps),
- Detonation Hazard (a really good level using the TNT and Nitro boxes),
- Empire Ants,
- Garden Canyon (similar to Celeste mountain),
- Marbleless Temple (a lot of custom stuff but the difficulty is quite brutal), mausoleum (bone stuff),
- My Eyes Shine Bright with the City Lights (activating and deactivating stuff),
- Sepulchral Steelpunk Planetoid (portal stuff),
- Soulbound (teleporting stuff),
- The Reservatorium (item and subitem stuff) and
- Tubular Tunnel Fun (a lot of custom stuff)
They are very gimmicky and enjoyable to play (except Marbleless Temple, you are the only level that I have to turn invincibility on). Very standard as well, in which I had difficulty adopting something like a "SLAM" structure in my submission. Using Room.lua is kinda debatable, but not using it is even harder to split the setups and areas one by one.
I remembered that I said something like a "meta" for having a SLAM structure level in the previous contest. It appears the meta got even more complicated. Besides from a SLAM structure, you also need something like:
- Parallax backgrounds (depending on the level theme, I like the ones from Untouched Garden and mausoleum because they are majestic).
- Custom subscripts (like rooms.lua, spawnzones, physics patch, another walljump, one-way gate, NPC remover, shaders etc)
- Multiple core gimmicks using Lunalua (either get some from the forums or make one yourself)
- Multiple tilesets (especially when you can combine the two together)
- Custom NPCs using Lua and graphic designs
- A vast knowledge of coding lua content (you can borrow scripts from the forums, but there are always something not yet made or you need to make it your own)
- Vast creativity of linking setups, themes, gimmicks together
- A climax involving something like an autoscroll, a boss fight or a harder/convoluted section
- Trivial stuff like charming backgrounds, sound effects, aesthetic
I can see why I struggle with making levels. Not particularly good at coding, nor having outstanding ideas for the level theme and gimmicks and often comparing top levels with those of mine. Honestly, it is quite a burn-out spending time on making things I am not really proud of. I do like a lot of levels made in this contest, and enjoy replaying some of them, but there isn't any motivation for me to learn from them and make levels outside any contests.
Anyways, I hope the levels I listed above get their deserved ranks. They are very charming, enjoyable and certainly have a lot of effort spent on. To the people who made those levels, you have my praise.

Just as a heads-up: I have spoilered a section of your post to prevent judges accidentally reading it and getting preconceived notions. Results are also not out, so it seems a little early to speculate on what ranks highly.

As someone who can't look into details at the moment, what's the official number of entries this year?

From what I'm reading, the judging is close to completion. Should we expect the episode to be done before October?
