7th gen wasn't out when the ballot happened. Also we have no playable gen 5 pokemon either, so it's not like there's a rule that every gen needs to have a newcomer. Gen 1 is duly overrepresented due to how iconic the pokemon are. Lucario and Greninja are iconic through the anime. I don't follow the anime TOO much so I don't know if there's a new fighter-worthy pokemon introduced there, but I'd guess the Alolan Vulpix, Raichu and the Bewear assist trophies have some connection to the anime.

I was talking about the gen with the buff fire cat, the water mermaid seal and the grass arrow bird ghost, I don't follow pokemon so I don't know what gen is that one.

My apologizes, what I was trying to say with all of that is that, the list was outdated, and not expecting any character that was not in that list is not the best thing to do, Sakurai is a man full of suprirses, he could add the craziest character possible like wiifit trainer, or an unexpected retro character like Duck Hunt, we should come with an open mind.

With the way ARMS plays, they couldn't be echo fighters. They'd most likely be some sort of hybrid of a long range melee fighter. From ideas I've heard, their attacks could be charged up and shot for lots of distance, but have lots of ending lag to them. I'd be really interested for what Nintendo does with them

What would you expect for this Wednesday's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct? Personally, this is a big one. They will probably announce a new announcer (to keep the tradition alive, because I believe the Smash 4 announcer is a placeholder), new and returning stages, new modes, and possibly a new character from either ARMS, Octopath Traveler, Kirby, Pokémon, or Donkey Kong.

Actually I do believe that they're bringing back the old announcer from 4, I think he tweeted about returning
