Or you just turn the bubbles to rinkas or blaargs.

It's pretty hard to outrange normal Wart, honestly - he can shoot his bubbles further than Mario & Luigi can throw items I'm pretty sure.

I didn't mean that you can constantly outrange him, but can just wait in a safe spot and wait for him to stop. Of course there ways to still make that fight interesting, but very often I think those fights are missing a certain dynamic.

You can only hit him (with thrown items at least) when he's attacking, so it kind of balances itself out IMO. Your idea does seem good though.

This only applies to veggies.

Oh really? Thanks for the info, never realized that.

It seems to be that you can't change the score of a power-up and a checkpoint with the txt modification.
If you do, it won't work, for example:
npc-187:
score=13

It will do nothing and give it's perspective amount.

Idk why anyone would want the checkpoint to give anything at all.

Checkpoints grant points in the New Super Mario Bros. games, so that's something.

I think the reason this happens with checkpoints, by the way, is because you can't change the point value of an NPC that doesn't already give points. IDK about power-ups though.

If you seperate yourself from a rainbow shell while you are riding it, Mario will keep spinning and having sparkles. (However, he is still able to get hit by enemies.)

That stupid glitch only happens sometimes in SMBX if you're just spinning around on the floor without the rainbow shell. Also by riding on one rainbow shell while there are multiple ones active on the floor going around, the player gets on the other one and by that rapidly... but at the same time unknown...

I was trying to make the checkpoint give you 4000 points in the NSMB games (except NSMB DS), it never gave me any points.

Whoa, I just (JUST) discovered a bug in SMBX that I don't think I've ever seen mentioned before: if you fall out of water sideways (like, you're swimming and the water ends to your left or right) while holding jump with a leaf/tanooki as Mario or Luigi, you will hover in the swimming animation until you stop hovering or hit the ground. Pretty minor, but interesting.

I saw bossedit8 abusing that glitch at least since 2013.

Using a block that isn't the size of a regular ? block or a giant ? block, if you put an item in it, it will turn into a regular hit ? block when hit that is in the upper left corner of the block.

The nerdy explanation of this is that SMBX changes the block ID of a hit block. Since x and y of everything in the game are in the upper left corner of the hitbox, you get the result you witnessed. Technically speaking, the regular hit ? block is always positioned in the upper left corner of the block. You just don't notice it with most blocks.
I prefer the result after resizing the hit block to be larger than the pre-hit block.

Yeah, I knew about it, too. However, I don't think it has been mentioned specifically in this thread before, either.

Something I discovered about hardcoded GFX: if you use an image that is bigger than the original one, SMBX will:

1) will be fucked permanently if you don't have LunaLua (you won't be able to launch the SMBX.exe);
2) will show just a cut image if you use LunaLua.

Ooh, I just discovered a new bug (or at least one I haven't seen discussed before): If you jump over a SMW goalpost without the bar NPC being on screen, you will complete the level, but the bar will not disappear.

I remember I discovered that too when I was playing Super Puzzle World at 2010 or 2011 - it's a really old SMBX episode Image
