The demo levels have a LUA script that changes you to the correct character on loading the level, so that would work in place of just having character blocks, although I'm not sure what name you'd use to switch to Peach (Or Rinka, since that character has no demo level, but is slated for replacement anyway according to the progress sheet. I wholeheartedly approve of New Super Marisa Land Marisa with corresponding powerups as the replacement.)
From what I can tell, the priority is Bugs > Multiplayer > Very Minor Bugs (like small visual glitches) > World Map > Characters > New features not mentioned in the Progress Sheet.

Fixing multiplayer will inherently bring with it the character rework, so when that's aimed for for the full release, those two will be at the forefront. It's also why currently, characters are rather low priority. They'll all need some form of rework.
The roadmap is a good indicator of current priorities though, yeah.

Found another bug that seems to be tied to the new npcs added. If I use a SMW version Lakitu with or without a custom sprite image in a level and kill said lakitu the death effect is always a smb3 Lakitu. I've tried making a custom effect to match the smw Lakitu to fix it but it always uses the smb3 one. I've tried making a custom sprite to replace the smb3 death effect of the smb3 version of Lakitu and it still uses the smb3 Lakitu (upside down) image on death as if the effect that is loaded is hardcoded. I've seen Episodes (for SMBX2 B3) make the SMW Lakitu into Bowser and the death effect matched. Is this a known issue of beta 4?

I wanted to ask, is it true that in SMBX2 Beta 5 you will add multiplayer, so that you can play with other players on the network, all you need is to have some kind of server on which the players would gather, just like on Minecraft servers! If you really add this, I and other users will be very happy! Good luck in the development!

We'll fix multiplayer, but online multiplayer is not on the table for now. Thankfully parsec works, even today.

Then implement it. If you think it should happen, and we're not planning to make it, make it yourself.

Also technically the next release is the full release, there won't be a Beta 5.

Then use parsec (linked a few posts above)!

Then maybe don't try to tell the developers what "should" be in the next release. We've prioritised these things based on how useful they are, and how difficult they are to implement. There is a reason online multiplayer is waaaaay down the list.
If we ever get to it, it'll be a long time, so in the meantime, parsec is good enough.

Synced switches + SMB2 Bobomb causes an event error.

This is a known bug fixed in the upcoming patch 2 release (one of the earliest things fixed)

If this so, I would be "very" happy. I am probably not the only one who waits patiently and with great joy for the full release of this version.

Well if you're happy about the full release of SMBX2 then you got yourself a big wait.

Just downloaded it and played through some of the player demo levels, found all but Snake to be fun, but the main thing I would like to bring up is that I feel like with all the video game all stars, that they are sorta lacking their specific boss enemies, like Link and Zelda's Ganon, Snakes Revolver Ocelot, Mega Man's Wily, and especially whatever enemy the others have. Looking at the changelog tho says King Knight will be playable in next big update tho, and I excited to play an entire episode made for him.
As for a suggestion, maybe with King Knight's Raccoon/Tanooki Power-Up, allowing him to travel like he was using a Propeller Mushroom, but not giving him much horizontal movement unless it's the Tanooki specifically, just quick vertical rising for Raccoon. Also, maybe to fix Snake, rather than giving him C4 for Fire, maybe give him one of his guns instead, where it only goes in a straight line in front of you, but it can destroy enemies even through very tight gaps, allowing you to snipe while hiding. As for the C4, if you still intend to keep it, maybe make it the Hammer Power-Up for Snake?
Oh, and lastly maybe for when you start a Episode, give them access to all the chars for initial char select rather than just the initial 5?

I don't know how many "years" I've been waiting for the full release of SMBX 2 in the way I described.
It is also very likely that the work on this project is higher than I estimate. And I guess this work is "very" high.
However, the full release of SMBX 2 should also be as free as possible from various types of bugs.
I thought and think that longer work on a project "can" also mean higher quality on a product.

Just to clarify:
- The rebranding is because beta 4 is basically already a version everyone uses, so might aswell go out of beta. My initial proposal was to have beta 4 be the full release, but we decided against it.
- As such, nothing will change in terms of what we aspire for Beta 5/full release
- As such, there will be bugs, and those will be fixed in patches
- Also worth mentioning is that "full release" is in no way an indicator for "last release". We could have made Beta 4 the full release and it'd have been just as valid as the next version being full release. There's always room for improvement.
- The high workload is primarily a high workload in free time across 3 people. It's in no way comparable to what more people could do in the same amount of time, or we could do if we could afford to work a full time job or even a part time job on this, or even if we didn't also have other things we do in our free time.
