What if we stopped treating certain groups like they're beyond reproach due to their forum status, and had them be accountable or something silly like that like any normal person would?

Perhaps we could get somewhere instead of this thread being waited out for it to die.

Yeah I know that you can make your level better after a review and get a better score, but is that truly the purpose of the levels forum?
In my opinion it isn't. I think the levels forum isn't a competition on who can get the highest score for their level design, I think it rather is to get feedback on your design and make better levels in the future.
Is that not the purpose of a re-review; to get feedback on a modified version of your level and make sure you didn't misinterpret a judge's review? The way I see it, re-reviews actually do more to help users improve on level design since it allows them to keep working on the same level until it's done right rather than have to make an original level each time they wanted feedback.

People handle it like "alright I need a second review" rather than "hey guy who reviewed my level can you take another look", though. IMO Re-reviews shouldn't warrant a move back to the levels forum but rather a PM to the judge who did the initial review who will then revisit the level and adjust their score and give some more feedback (maybe move the level too idk).

I'd agree with this change to the system, since I think it also makes more sense and would be simpler to manage and more efficient than the previous one

I honestly feel we shoud just remove the whole "move a level to a certain category" since it just promotes competition as other people had already stated.

How about a star rating system where all users can give 1 star (bad) to 5 stars (good) to each level?

Though that would require abolishing all level categories and mass coding ...

A lot of people, including myself, enjoy the competition. Those who don't can post in Casual Levels instead. I'm also pretty sure that Valt said that there's no chance of completely abolishing the categorization of levels

I don't think competition is really the biggest problem (since it really doesn't happen to begin with) and it's more to do with threads dying. I agree though ofc.

Doesn't change anything.

Nobody is even competing. They just post a level they made and if they actually tried, they just hope it gets somewhere above The Trash Can. It's a waste of time because the levels mostly end up in The Trash Can, Average, or Pretty Good which don't need to stand out from normal topics because they're categorically normal topics.

I find fun in the competition to try to get a high score. What's wrong with that?

For that you can participate in the gazillion contests which are held here every hour. It's not like there's a certain drought of events based around competition.

That's very true, but what's the issue with my original statement?

Applying the concept of competition to both contests and levels casually found in our levels category supresses the concept of posting levels for fun. There should be a balance. IMO we don't need categories apart from Casual Levels and Battle Levels. If you want a review you can always PM a level judge who will then deem it subjectively good/bad.
