I wouldn't mind seeing some proof that this is happening besides videos of things Lua can do.

Oh I was thinking of not even placing any NPCs, but doing everything through Graphics.drawImage/Graphics.placeSprite in the third line.

Well then why isn't it just SMBX 1.3 with Lua attached? 2.0 is a little misleading.

Well then why isn't it just SMBX 1.3 with Lua attached? 2.0 is a little misleading.

But Lua is still only an extension, while it's purpose is for smbx, it's still a seperate program.

Didn't XerX already add Lua to SMBX anyways in a 1.3.0.2 that wasn't officially supported just because our administration wasn't involved in the process. Even if that wasn't gone with the wind, it could still be considered 2.0 with your logic.

The inclusion of Luna stuff and PGE, the amount of prepackaged extensions, and the various other additions/improvements are enough to warrant a new version. The only reason "2.0" is misleading is if people think that the core game is receiving an update (i.e. we have the source code and continue with updates/bug fixes normally), which is an understandable issue, but we still have enough material that calling it "SMBX + Lua" isn't the right way to go. It's a new version of SMBX because it now officially contains these things.

I actually already knew that this was really SMBX with lua. I already know we didn't modify the source code as we
don't have it.

Yeah, I mean, this new stuff is a shocking and pleasant surprise, but I dunno if this is really what SMBX 2.0 would be if Redigit had simply continued it. You know? I definitely think all the LunaLua stuff should be celebrated, shared, and supported, but it feels more like a "the best version yet for modpacks, if you're into that thing. Here's a starter pack of examples if you're not.", rather than, say, the jump from 1.1 to 1.2 in how levels were just... more varied because of the new features it brought. I'm definitely not saying I spite Horikawa Otane for that. SMBX 1.4.1 is closed-source, and while it has new features, apparently it is a good idea to earn access to secret stuff with calculus problems, in 59438538's opinion.* I think I've learned my lesson about depending solely on a developer for new features (although it doesn't help that I don't speak Chinese and that he's a bit reclusive).

*like, imagine if you had to beat So You Think You Can Mario? before using the Lakitus Are Throwing Lakitus menu

You don't need any editor stuff to beat my episode btw. I can probably beat it in 50 lives straight out of the box.
