GUYS OPERATION STAR SNATCHER DIDN'T WIN SOMEBODY HAS RIGGED THE SCORES
On a serious note, these levels sound like they'll be fun to play, especially Wild Western Walk. Good luck to the remaining participants!

I made it farther than I expected. My goal was to at least make the top 10, and I exceeded that expectation. I am really happy about that.
I'm a little disappointed that my level got so many complaints about the difficulty and unfairness, but I can see that it's only natural considering it's a lava level with unpredictable gimmicks.
It's a really big surprise to see that the level Operation Star Snatcher didn't make it further. I had a little chat with some people about it and it really seemed like it would win. Guess not. So the final two users remaining are Kyo and Emral. I think it would honestly be hilarious if Emral won considering what he's been through this contest, but I'm betting Kyo will win this. Good luck, you guys!

8th again. Pretty glad my level made as far as it did, but was still hoping to beat my record of 8th place. Ah well. Good job to everyone else who made it this far!

*thinks about it*
Well, sometimes I make a level, but yeah, that's about it. Also, I wouldn't consider my posts as "complaining about users," but rather their levels, etc. Plus, I try to offer suggestions to help the users make their levels better. On top of this, my mentioning of the split-infinitives was meant to be taken as a joke. Oh well...
Emral wrote:The paths themselves each introduce a new gimmick to the level, be it a wrapping section, Lakitu or challenging jumps, compared to the ones in the previous sections.
Woah woah woah WOAH, how is "challenging jumps" a gimmick?? My level had "challenging jumps," Murphmario's level had "challenging jumps," and I would imagine there are many other levels that have "challenging jumps," so why is your praise exclusive to this level? I hope that's just poor wording...
Now that I think about it, "a wrapping section" and "Lakitu" aren't really gimmicks, either, as they're pre-programmed into SMBX; you should say what exactly about them you found gimmicky. It would be like saying "I liked the SMB3 Bowser fight because it was really innovative;" you should say what exactly about the fight was innovative (unless you don't want to spoil it, in which case, just say so).
TNTtimelord wrote:I seriously want to know where you got the musical choices for this level
So it's not just me who wants music to be labeled properly after all...thanks, TNTtimelord, I feel more confident about this now.

So I ended up in Tier 2. I'm quite satisfied with my placement though as the lineup is quite strong anyway. If this were a contest in which there were a fair amount of joke levels, regular levels and outstanding levels, I would've ended up in the middle of Tier 3, which is better than right at the bottom like with my CC5 entry. (and why did the judges not even pick up on the numerous Frozen references in the level?! The sign that basically says "This layer is shown/hidden" is a Frozen reference!)
I'll post the level as soon as I get back from Greece, with bug fixes and alterations suggested by the judges.

I just don't know, if i will attend another community contest, seeing how much problems, hate, discussion and more this one has caused. I know that i am not really experienced with the community contests at all, therefore i should maybe just be quiet, but i am almost sure that no contest before this one has caused that much problems.
The fun for this contest has ended for me, right when i have read about all these "fuck Emral"-posts. First a person is willing to review, and when there are people who dosn't like his reviewing-style,
then he get's a bombardement of hate for taking the time to review about 70 levels. I for sure know and understand good, how it feels, when one dosn't gets, what he deserves or seems to deserve (i have encountered that several times in my life, and with more important things, than a level contest), but even then it is very grueseome to spread out hate for that, in my opinion.
Of course he could have used the exact same system as the others, so there is no dragging down or pulling up, but this whole situation reminds me too good of situations, that just scared me all the time.
As said, maybe i just should have said nothing, but this is my honest opinion about it.
Thanks to all the judges for reviewing my level. But i think i don't care about it anymore, even if i really can be happy and grateful that it got to place 4.

No really, holy shit, Operation Star Snatcher #4? It was like, confirmed it's the contest winner. I heard one judge gave it 10 and one gave it 9,9. I'm surprised TNT actually lied (or changed) his score from 9,9 to 8. You... really frightened me. =P And Emral's placement also goes beyond my expectations. I did play it, and if I was judge, I'd give it a rating of 9, so apparently that would even lower his score.
Wish me luck!
I changed it. I added a few things and I didn't really find it all that enjoyable, even if it has godly amazing graphics.
Second of all, it will look really biased if Emral wins, but you you guys should play the level as it is winning material nonetheless!

There's nothing wrong with speaking your opinion, and I can understand where you are coming from. I feel I should inform you that this sort of stuff has manifested in every competition so far in a different way to a differing extent towards a different person. This goes all the way back to the first tournament, where NameUser was hosting the tournament which he himself won. Then there are the more modern events, such as the castlewars embargo in CC7 and luigi.net's review style in CC5. One judge reviews differently, scores what can be perceived as unfair to other people, and people tend to target this person through posts like that. This is the internet for you.
I worry that if Emral wins, there may be a massive uproar where this goes up a gear, and people may start accusing Emral of worse stuff (ie. marking levels down for personal gain etc.), like with what TNTtimelord has said.
TNTtimelord wrote: It will look really biased if Emral wins, but you you guys should play the level as it is winning material nonetheless!
Moreover, if Kyo wins, people may complain that he was won too many tournaments (though I'd rather Kyo win then Emral, if only to lessen the potential fallout). But yeah, don't expect this to die down so quickly; whether or not you want to participate in further tournaments is up to you. Veterans to these community contests are used to this happening, as well as knowing past contests many mistakes throughout the process like with the changing of the tier system from the first two contests. I suspect there will be another lesson to learn from this one. Lets see what happens.
Gneral solicit to everyone: If Emral is the winner and a massive uproar does happen, might it be worth considering removing his reviews, or at least his reviews that have been seen as unfair by some people? That's only if he wins of course and people create a massive hoohah of course (which is likely to happen #smbxcommunityproblems)

I'm very satisfied with my placement in this contest. IMO my level was my most creative level yet, but probably not the most polished of my levels because I was on vacation on the two weeks prior to deadline, and I didn't have as much time to test the level. Especially with like half the time as I usually get, I'm really happy I got the score and place that I did! Thank you judges for reviewing my level, giving me feedback, and giving me really great scores. I appreciate it!
Good luck to both Kyo and Emral! Both are great designers and I could see either winning this.
On the topic of Emral's reviews, I definitely don't think he gave the scores he did to get himself to win the contest. Yeah, his scores did affect quite a few levels greatly, but none of those levels (as far as I'm concerned) would have been contenders for winning without his score. He did give out tens, and other really high scores, so I believe he was just giving his honest opinion and wasn't trying to give purposely low scores just to win.

Massive uproar = like two people so far. I think removing judges should not be considered in this situation, since it would cause more damage/drama. I kinda wish Emral wins to balance things out. Kyo has won more contests so far.

Before I get accused for spoiling the results or anything, I'm going to spoiler my actual posts. Emral did state about what score he gave how many times, and using that information, I found out what score he gave my level.
Emral said there are three levels he rated 10 out of 10. If you look at the current results, there are only two 10s so far. That's why it's confirmed I received a 10 out of 10. That means there is a high chance that I will actually win. But if Emral's reviews are actually removed, there is a good chance the winners will be switched. So if you count one and one together, you will come to this conclusion:
Removing Emral's reviews WILL actually help him. He would win the contest BECAUSE his reviews are removed.

I'll say this: I've done all the recalculations, and regardless of whether or not Emral's reviews are removed or not, the winner remains the same.

Good luck to the finalists and congrats to all who participated. We have great designers among us. I'll cheer for Emral just because he has not won a contest yet, but I cheer to the best level (like in the another Contests... Even though I did not know before of revelation).

I think Kyo is going to win the contest. He's got a 10/10 from one judge and he's won several contests in the past, such as CC2 (Acropolis Ascension) and the SMBX Revived contest (Dramatic Deterrence). He also won LotM three times as well on NSMBX, so he has a reputation for making good levels. If Emral wins I'll eat my shell.
