Those Link sprites are not being and will not be included in SMBX2, because to do so would destroy backwards compatibility.

In Beta 4 the only difference is that the rupee sound is slightly quieter.
I don't know if it's the version I have, but it definitely sounds low quality in 2.0 beta 3.
Are you sure that it isn't just your computer making low quality sounds because it may be old? I don't think it's beta 3's fault, most likely something to do with your device, or have you perhaps changed your systems' sound in the system settings?
This is what I mean. Although some sounds in 2.0 Beta 3 sound the same, some sound way different, like the shield and item sound effects.
Note, no sound effects were changed in either one.

I am aware of what would happen once the original five characters get modified and screw up the backwards compatibility and that mustn't happen (I actually have an alternative in mind so that won't happen hopefully). Which is one of the reasons why I am holding myself back to show another sprite sheet here for the time being. I was just wondering if PGE might be holding SMBX2 back anyhow.

Are you using Windows 10, Dredregaming? That's been happening to me too lately, but it wasn't just SMBX that caused it; Other apps I use on a pretty regular basis are randomly making my computer freak out now. I think it might be an issue with a recent system update.

Which launcher are you running? Make sure that you RUN SMBX2.exe from the main directory. In terms of the music, are you using custom music? If so, make sure that the checkbox labelled "Custom" is checkmarked in "Section Settings" and that the name is correct. If that doesn't change things, do the normal sound effects work?
Actually, that's the wrong .exe, you're supposed to open the one called 'SMBX2.exe'. The one you're opening is just standard 1.3, which SMBX2 is built on top of.
This should be the first menu you open
SMBX2.exe or SMBXLauncher.exe (in the data folder) should get you to that menu (although the SMBX2.exe does not always work). SMBX.exe will just send you to 1.3 where the music does not work
