M11: Shoot to Thrill: DAY 4

The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

Well, let see, Danny quit sue to people flaming, Nickname qiut but can't quit and people don't kniw mafia.
Just like you can't spell :P

Christian: I lynched Marina but people wouldnt believe me. Went through a whole M6 scenario again, and then Layla had to do a knife in the box on me and Marina, and luckily it picked Marina. They all noticed how I was right and probably felt like idiots then. And there after Danny quit because he hates losing, and decided h'ed fight with me on #smbxgames. Ended up not working.

So now we are down two more mafia, and hopefully just one left to kill. It's a shame that they got two blues so easily though.
"felt like idiots"

nope, I'm guessing you just got lucky or didn't tell us all of your reasons. As I said, the reasons you had for lynching him ere way too shallow.

Also, Jacob, I decided against guitting on my own since it felt kinda unfair against Layla. And I can honestly understand why Danny quit.

You can't. Layla won't allow dropping out, and besides, we don't have subs.

And here we are jumping to conclusions!

You gave no good reason as to why you lynched Marina and you kept dodging our questions asking why you were. Nobody felt like idiots because all you did was randomly pick a player and, out of luck, found out they flipped red, which doesn't mean they're Mafia. I didn't quit because I "hate losing", I quit because I wasn't going to play with an egotistical bastard who, once he's right, shoves his victory in your face and proceeds to call everybody idiots for not believing him the first time around, as well as suspect anyone that goes against his ridiculous vote. I argued with you, and then you provoked and proceeded to set me off with your sarcastic and childish behavior whilst intentionally ignoring my questions by deciding to strike up a conversation with Layla and DarkMatt.

The host is also at fault for opening his mouth and talking with the players and somewhat giving them hints. I also wasn't going to play with a host that goes along with another player and insults somebody, it's not kind and because I was set off by Gohan provoking me, I was targeted as the bad guy in IRC while Gohan and the others could stand back and laugh as I was slapped on the wrists for behaving in a disorderly way that I can't help. A player insulting another player is normal behavior in any game, but if the host jumps in to join them in insulting, that's just horrible, and the host shouldn't help the other player cheat.

Also I don't know why the host won't allow any more dropouts, if people aren't liking the game, just allow them to drop out.

Besides, I quit the game, why do you guys keep referencing me when I had literally jack shit to do with the entire game in the first place? I wouldn't have determined the outcome, so stop making it out to be like that and drop the entire subject.

To take a wild guess that's the best explanation I could come up with I'd say that Gohan wanted to cooperate with the Mafia at first but then he just decided to give Mafia names to the town. Maybe GMarinaX acted as a mouthpiece and was thus the one Gohan knew about, but he tried to come up with a reason? Even though Danny's behavior kinda contradicts that theory tbh.
If Gohan really had no reason behind his lynch other then what he stated multiple times then I feel like that was bad play. I agree with most of Danny's post though.

I understand why you left, don't get me wrong. But you could have still stayed in the game for the remainder of it, because you were Mafia. You pretty much stabbed the Mafia in the back by leaving the game, and they even lost a valuable player. Leaving the game was a bad alternative.

About Gohan: Yes, I know his behavior was awful during this, and it was starting to be M6 all over again, but he realized how foolish he was acting, and he apologized for it. You should forgive and forget, it's just a game. If he talks about you, so what. You were in the game before, and you were a big part of it, too. You're not going to be completely cast out just because you leave, you will be talked about. Don't take it so personally. Also, Gohan wasn't being serious when he said we were idiots when he was right, it was sarcasm. Magna was mainly the one calling us idiots.

I do admit, it was very wrong for Layla to get involved in the game. He has been playing Mafia for a long time now, he should've known better. He probably done it because he's good friends with Gohan, but friends or not, he CANNOT talk to other players when he's the host, especially insulting them for not agreeing with someone. Layla apologized to Nickname for this, but regardless, it was wrong, and the Game Masters shouldn't take it lightly (not saying he should be punished necessarily, I'm saying that punishment should follow if something like this were to happen again involving Layla).

Also I don't know why the host won't allow any more dropouts, if people aren't liking the game, just allow them to drop out.

If people sign up to play Mafia, then they should know that this kind of stuff happens sometimes, and they need to learn to deal with it. Are you aware how many players we'd lose if Layla started letting everyone drop out? We didn't get subs anyways.
I'm seriously going to talk to the Game Masters about not letting people drop out unless they're inactive, because these things happen sometimes.
And yes, I'm aware I've quit the game before, but it was only my second Mafia game, and I was still getting used to things. I know better now.

Besides, I quit the game, why do you guys keep referencing me when I had literally jack shit to do with the entire game in the first place? I wouldn't have determined the outcome, so stop making it out to be like that and drop the entire subject.

Refer to what I said in the first paragraph about leaving. You are an extremely good Mafia player, you even led the Mafia to victory in M9. You managed to convince everyone you were town, and you went for the ringleader role. Honestly, the Town had a lower chance of winning with you being Mafia, because you are very good at convincing the Town that you're not Mafia. The outcome could have been much different if you had stayed in the game.

I'm ending this early-ish. Phases will end around this time to a couple hours from this time.

Someone made a kill attempt on Gohan, big surprise, but he's also protected.

So I learned that Jacob also turned up red (being the Sheriff's mouthpiece and all). How very interesting!
If Nien's death doesn't end the game, killing Jacob will be our top priority. WE HAVE DIS GAME IN DA BAG PEOPLES!

So, was I right?

I'm starting to think that Nien is the Miller, honestly. He hasn't been active the whole game, and usually, a couple Townies typically are inactive as they don't have a role.

Jacob has actually been suspicious at times, so I'm changing my vote to Jacob9300Shadow.

Foreword: What I say in this post is not final, and more formal adjustments will be made after further discussion with Pseudo-dino in the near future.

[/color]
Now, as people have stated, there have been some problems with Mafia recently, particularly in this game. To make it fair, punishments will not be given out to people on rules which have not been clearly defined as of this particular moment with the exception of GMarinaX who will not be able to participate in M12. As stated in the Mafia Rules, usage of screenshots, whether real or editted, is not permitted. The same also applies to text logs. You may post the text of a conversation, but a screenshot of a chat window is not permitted.

To get back to the problem at hand, there are two main issues I would like to focus on in this post in particular. Both of these strongly relate to sportsmanship. Now, Ignoritus has stated before that Mafia is a team game, and players should support their team and not circles of friends. Similarly, the attitudes of players should support this positive sportsmanship. The flaming that may occur in arguments here is not permitted just as it would not be permitted elsewhere on the forums. Remember that this game is supposed to be fun. Sure, sometimes people won't listen to what you want, and that's to be expected. Mafia is a game of suspicion and manipulation at heart. Don't be upset about that! It's going to happen. Everyone will have games where he or she wins or loses. You cannot win all of the time or as much as you may like, but this doesn't mean you should be angry at others. For example, there was an argument a few matches ago where one player back-stabbed his friend, and it hurt their friendship. I personally don't want to see things like this happen, and they really shouldn't. To get back to my point, we all need to be supportive in our attitudes. Qig has been one of the first to die in a few games recently, and he's not complaining about it. Death in this game isn't something to get worked up about as he has shown. Oftentimes it can be exciting to spectate the arguments that break out. Of course I expect arguments among parties, but keep them civil. Prove your points with logic, not emotion.

The second issue comes up with the whole concept of quitting. I can understand where 8bitmushroom is coming from and the reason he quit this game. I don't blame him, and he is not being punished for this. However, I would like to say that we need to commit a bit more to mafia games. Dropping out due to inactivity is one thing, but quitting purely out of frustration is not. Not only does this hurt your team's chances of winning, but it can ruin the atmosphere of the game of the other players as seen here in M11. It will likely become a rule here soon that players need to make the commitment to the games. Things may be bad this game, but this should be an exception to the attitude seen in Mafia games. If we can improve the attitude I mentioned before, I don't think this will be a problem.

Yes, Mafia is a game, but it should be taken seriously. Although people may get worked up over things from time to time, we are all friends here, and you all need to remember that. Lighten up and have some fun with us. :)

I feel like this post belongs in the Mafia Discussion thread if anything.
But nonetheless, I'm actually going to vote for Jacob, since that what you guys want. We'll still win if Nien is the real bad guy and we need to lynch him the next day.
