I would like my castle to be kinda dark

I'm currently making my castle and a Sky Level called Windmill Valley. I don't know if this are right but. Since i never used the Mafia forums, i'd like to be Mafia World boss (AKA World 5) because... uhm... Inspector Koopa? Mafia? Have a connection, don't it? If not, World 4 is a option too.

After much deliberation, I decided to just remove the foreground layer altogether, as I deemed it too difficult to get the scrolling to work without No Turn Back. I'll just have to re-purpose the effect for a later level.

Also, I added a secret exit to the level.

Tangledlion recently announced to Epoch and me via PM that he will be leaving SMBX, effectively cancelling this project:

Okay, so after a long time being inactive, I'd like to join back as a level designer.

I still can't get the darn idea of the theme of the levels, though. Does it have to look like a regular SMBX level, or is it supposed to look corrupted?

Apparentally, from what I can tell, everybody's off doing their own thing. They each have their own vision of how the levels are supposed to be themed.

Me, I'm going to try and make my level themed around fictious topics, as if the levels were topics themselves. For example, in the world/topic "Video Games" I'm going to try and make my levels themed around video games, such as SMB3, Super Metroid, Doom, etc. etc. For the world/topic "General", I might make levels centered around topics such as "Best level music" and "Memes in Levels" with NPCs in the levels talking about said topics. For example, in the "Best level music" level I might have the different sections of the level have different music with NPCs saying a section's music is their favorite.

That's how I'm going to design my levels. You know, you could design your levels for higher the world, the more corrupted they are.

Actually, due to a perceived lack of interest in this project (we only got, like, two or three levels in the ~9 months this project has been running), I'm considering scrapping the themed worlds altogether (as well as making a few other major changes) and just making this a five-level mini-episode (one level for each HSMBXC member). This will also mean that the "hacked forumer" role will be scrapped since the player will be fighting the HSMBXC directly.

You'll still be able to submit your own level, and I'm willing to be fairly lenient on what kind of level it is, but it will have to be a castle/fortress level of some sort with each level representing the hideout of a different HSMBXC member. What I mean by "lenient" is that the hideout can be built into a mountain, etc., but don't expect to get away with making an ordinary cave/grassland/mountain level; it will need to show some form of human occupation/fortification.

I'll work on adding details of this to the first post, but I'll go ahead and make one thing clear, and this has always been true:
IF YOU WANT TO BE CREDITED AS A LEVEL DESIGNER, YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY SUBMIT A LEVEL FIRST.

To submit a level, send me the level's download link via PM.

P.S. The corrupted levels were Epoch's idea. If you want to make a level like that, go ahead, but just know that you don't have to make your level like that.

I just finished editing the first post with how this project will be run. Be sure to check it out before asking questions.

Also, to those of you interested in making levels for this project: due to the lower amount of level slots, I recommend you focus on one level until it's finished rather than try to make a bunch of different levels at once.

No problem! Vanilla levels (or levels that use others' CGFX) can also be accepted; the only requirements are that the level is fun to play and that the level represents the hideout of one of the HSMBXC members.

If you're referring to your in-game sprite, feel free to link me to a pre-made character sprite you want to represent yourself (example: the guy from Harvest Moon) when you submit your level. Alternatively, you may simply describe what you want to look like instead. I'm sure HenryRichard is still willing to make CGFX for this project, but even if he isn't, I'll do my best and even send you a preview of your sprite so you can approve or disapprove of it.

Actually, was referring to the in-game sprite of the HSMBXC members. Haven't seen their sprites coming up yet, and yeah, slightly paranoid if I have to do them while creating the level itself.
