So you guys prefer a clunky and slow editor which screws up bgo-ordering upon saving over a faster and more versatile editor which can do everything the other one can, but better?
I don't use a lot of layers and events and stuff in my levels, so regular SMBX works fine for me, and I'm happy with it. I've thought about using PGE but I never got around to actually trying it :P
Plus SMBX 2.0 is coming out soon :P
You do realise 2.0 will likely get rid of the legacy editor entirely in favour of PGE, right?

Can we just not care about what editors other people use?

They have got the advice. If they want to suffer, we can't lose our time repeatidely saying to them that the lagacy editor is bad

I wouldn't call it suffering, and the legacy editor is not even bad! You guys just call it bad because of stuff such as LunaLua and PGE outclass it.

Alright, so it's not "bad", it's just worse than the alternatives. That doesn't change a single thing though.

I wonder since some of people are new to Lunalua, is it against the rules to get help from someone if we get stuck on something as long as the lunadll.lua file was made by the contestant?

The judges cannot know. However asking anyone else is fine.

Zeldamaster12 wrote:I'm not trying to force it on you guys, but what exactly do you guys think is wrong with PGE? The only answers I've seen are either being too lazy to download it, how some of you don't use layers and events, and even "I hate it but don't know why". Believe me, I used to be the same. I used the legacy editor over PGE because I was more used to the legacy editor. But so many told me that PGE is much easier to use, so I decided to give it a try, especially since I found using custom gfx on the legacy editor was annoying to use. I stepped out of my comfort zone and realized that PGE is easier to use.
So can I please hear other reasons of hating the PGE editor besides the reasons mentioned before?
I never said I hate PGE. I just don't want to use it right now because we're already used to regular SMBX. However, I'll probably download SMBX 2.0 once the full version is released.
@Enjl: Yes, I know. I'll try it out once the full version is released.
@Prado: I'm not "suffering." I like SMBX because I'm used to it, and I have been since 1.2. I haven't had any really major problems with it, and I've made all of my contest levels with it. And just because I think this way doesn't mean I want a "harder life."
I still don't get why this is such a big deal. Why does it concern you guys what editor WE want to use? I'm willing to drop this argument now since it's pretty clear that no one's changing anybody's mind

Well I hope PGE has a fully functional engine for SMBX by the time full 2.0 is released or else we have an unfinished editor under a finished name.

Turtwig, that wasn't an argument. I was just wanting to know what you guys find wrong with PGE. If you don't want to discuss it, that's fine.

It wasn't an argument because he-we-don't want to argue. We just prefer the normal editor,is that somehow hard to comprehend?

Plans are to use SMBX's testing mode through PGE by booting an instance of SMBX in the background and telling it to start the selected level upon testing.

I already implemented that, so, updated "SMBX Integration" config pack and current build of PGE Editor which in the public storage allows you to run SMBX Test with booting of SMBX and it will start testing of your level. How that did? PGE Editor generates a dummy world map and copies all custom data if there are presented into it, then it starts SMBX which should launch testing of that level automatically. That works with LunaLUA, but if Vanilia build, yu will be warned how to launch testing of requested level
