Samus uses physical missiles, and Snake pls.

The thing is, though that explosive weapons can be seen as comical even if they're realistic, whereas bullets always seem violent. Its weird but in a game with cartoon violence like Smash Bros, realistic bullets might raise some controversy, whereas explosives most likely wont. Unless they're used in bad taste (buildings exploding, or nuclear explosions used to destroy highly populated areas and such)

So far, Smash 4 seems to be a truly over-the-top and excellent game. I like the idea behind the Miis, although I'm not sure how it will work. Also, Pac-Man is great.

Yeah, this is basically what I meant. You never see realistic guns in games like this. It's just a weird censorship thing.

Well, primarily, it's a licensing issue. The rights to the Geno character are owned by Square Enix. He appears in Superstar Saga but the credits specifically mention:
"All Rights, including the copyrights of Game, Scenario, Music and Program, reserved by NINTENDO.
Regardless of the above-mentioned, the copyright of Character "Geno", reserved by SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD."

Murphmario mentioned this, of course. I'm just backing it up. Still, it's not impossible for Geno to be licensed back to Nintendo, considering the precedent set by Brawl and the characters already in the new roster. Is it likely?... probably not? It would indeed be pretty cool, though. I may have scoffed at the idea before but I'm warming to it.

Barring that, I wouldn't be sure if it's so much of a censorship issue as a balancing issue. Realistically moving bullets are practically an area-wide horizontal melee attack, and slow-moving bullets could be just weird. Geno doesn't have to use guns, though. Weren't his weapons usually action-figure-like attachments? Why not just roll with that, and make them more toy-like?

Bullets wouldn't have to be overpowered. They could have a shortened range and have low damage and knockback. Mega Man can shoot projectiles as his melee attack, and he's (apparently) not overpowered. I think he should also have rocket punch and such, as well as his energy-based attacks, but removing bullets would just be sad. Also, his hand cannon shoots giant bullets. Maybe they could be slower.

Was surprised to see the roster on the first pot hadn't been updated in ages, so I updated it. Woo.

I want Ghirahim. I don't care who else is in as long as Ghirahim is in.

Ghirahim has a lot of potential. His B move could be darts, B-down could be teleport (much like Zelda I guess), B-up could be dark sword attack, B-side could be charge. Would make an amazing character (probably a Zelda-Sheik hybrid).

Guess who is back?

Not Ness. Not Captain Falcon. Not Jigglypuff.

Yup, Master Hand is returning to Smash! As if it was not obvious, he's a boss.

I think it's safe to just assume that Master Hand would be back. It's like the face of the Smash Bros. series.

I think it's been established why not all projectiles need to be treated like bullets, and MegaMan is irrelevant because the speed of his pellets reflect how they work in the games they came from. As for his hand cannon, that only represents one of his abilities. What about the rest?
Sakurai is known for taking creative license with a character's abilities in a stylized and unique way that makes them work for the setting they're designed for and around various limitations there may be. I also think bullets are creatively limiting. Geno could have attachments for both his arms AND legs, and if they all only shot bullets, or just detachable rocket hands/feet, I think it would be a missed opportunity for many ideas to enrich the character's play style.

While i never support speculation of a character in smash bros

you are literally all forgetting geno's star cannon or whatever, the last weapon he was able to get

Of course I didn't forget about it, but I thought about it and didn't feel it was worth commenting on. "Geno had X weapon" is still pretty much addressed by where I said it couldn't alone represent his entire arsenal.

And I don't think he's going to be IN it, but I'm warming to the idea of it because I do kind of think it would be cool if done a certain way.

I may not be understanding you, but why can't he have rocket fists, bullets (maybe not), mini cannonballs, AND the star gun? They could all be used for different attacks. Maybe he could have a melee-based rocket-punch or rocket-kick for short range. (By the way, I'm not talking about specials. His energy-based attacks could be used for those.)

I was specifically talking about how bullets could easily be replaced by more toy-like accessories to counter any issues surrounding them, but I guess I got caught up in navel-gazing. No, of course it's fine that those can be used. I shouldn't have implied that they shouldn't be.

They could be replaced with seed bullets, which could be similar to what Link shoots with his slingshot in Ocarina of Time.

Yeah, so the roster was leaked today. I kind of wish it hadn't been but I am very happy with how it turned out. Supposedly Ridley and Mewtwo are unlockable or DLC according to the leakers, so that's cool. I guess we'll see in about 2 weeks when the game releases in Japan.

Actually the roster leaked like a week ago. The problem was that the general public was in denial until these videos. And the bits about Ridley and Mewtwo are fake. Either might be in, but they're not confirmed because that leaker lied about knowing anything on the missing characters.

If you don't like the leak you don't have to click it and see if it's true or not
The person in the video even says if you don't like it then click away
