I wanna see them.
I'm gonna be overly critical right now:Blue Greed wrote:I'm making my first actual background. It is still WIP but how does it look so far?(Fixed image.)Spoiler: show
I REALLY wish I could do all that stuff but my paint app is limited.Emral wrote:I'm gonna be overly critical right now:Blue Greed wrote:I'm making my first actual background. It is still WIP but how does it look so far?(Fixed image.)Spoiler: show
-I like the pattern on the trunks, but the shading makes them look like rounded squares. The front row of trees isn't clearly distinct either due to no colour difference.
-I'd honestly add an infinite amount of tree rows and scratch the gradient. To create a forest feeling, not just a treeline feeling. If you keep a gradient though, make it smoother. Maybe copy the style from SMB3-Blocks and just change the hue?
-The trees look a bit too regular and symmetrical. I think having different tree shapes and asymmetrical trees would make them look nicer.
-Last but not least: You should change the trees' shading up a bit. Imagine every 2 or 3 green pixels was a leaf. Try creating a messy shading which shows that there are leaves there. You can place bright and dark colours according to your chosen pattern.
Not bad for a first attempt though. I should try getting into background design aswell

I bolded the things you said in which I could actually do.Emral wrote:Blue Greed wrote:I'm gonna be overly critical right now:Emral wrote: (Fixed image.)

Any program which can handle a pencil, fill and colour selection tool can be used to do all of this.Blue Greed wrote:I REALLY wish I could do all that stuff but my paint app is limited.
Looks good, but i suggest you to recolor it to gray to make it less chocolate-ish.Darkonius Mavakar wrote:Factory Tileset
i'm perfectly aware that this looks more like a chocolate tileset.
