You can make fangames and not use their copyrighted stuff.
If you use copyrighted stuff, you should know that the company can give you a dmca. I dislike how people think companies don't allow fangames bc of stuff like that which in Nintendos case happens often.

What you wrote in the PM is bollocks so everyone considered it a joke. We have a plan in case DMCA does happen and no, it's not "rise above Nintendo and prove that if they don't allow fangames then they don't get any fans" because what were you smoking?
It's removing all copyrighted content from the basegame and replacing it with asmt-universe sprites.
Elmo
I TOLD you guys that I had a class so I forgot to remove the title. And what do you mean what am I smoking? SEGA has a way better fangame policy than Nintendo. Nintendo considers all fangames to be mistakes that shouldn't have happened.Over 10 years... that's not okay! However, SEGA has actually spoken in support of them, so there's proof that companies can be more tolerant. But if fangames are made whether or not the companies support them, it shows that 1. the fans are not interested in pleasing the company, so there's no incentive to make a more tolerant policy and 2. That if people are going to make the same amount of fangames even if you DMCA them, there's no incentive to be nicer about it because it still gives the same free brand awareness whether or not you publicly decry them.

I need help using lunalua
If you're actually interested in learning enough to be able to make a playable character (which is one of the most difficult things in LunaLua) you should start with a basic tutorial on solely Lua to learn the syntax and the basics of the language. You can always just resprite another character unless you're hellbent on making a custom character with physics, special abilities and power-up, etc.

The tutorials are confusing. Can you help me?

I think SMBX without Mario would be interesting to see. Hopefully, it never happens tragically.

Yeah, just remember that this whole nonsense over fangames is all Nintendo of America; Nintendo of Japan could give a fuck less (and last I heard, they were looking to have Nintendo of America have an overhaul in their policies though I'm less privy to the details than someone who would be an E3 regular).

Here's something I'm curious about.

The vision of version 1.0, how in-depth would it be, characters, features and so on. Was there ever an idea for the end product, or has this literally been a build-and-go project since it fell into our laps?

Anyway I heard that Snake is going to be overhauled or something. What exactly is planned for this overhaul for him?

Snake is, in principle about stealth, but his current mechanics don't really allow that. The vision cones are staying in some form, but where stealth gameplay is most interesting is when you have options for how to approach your enemies. So, what we're planning is a complete overhaul of Snake's mobility, alowing him to crawl, ledgegrab, double jump, grapple, etc. In order to give him mobility options in the 2D space. This allows him to find ways to avoid vision cones using verticality, since he can't use the 3D axis to do so.

That's interesting. I think I'm beginning to understand why the devs chose these characters for SMBX. Who else is going to be overhauled?

Another quick question Will there be any tweaks to Unclebroadsword to make him more costume friendly? I attempted to make a costume for UBS, but 2 problems appeared. 1 is the jumping frame sharing one of his walking frames, my character looked kind of awkward jumping while holding a "about to walk" animation and 2nd whenever my character was idle my character's walking animations was still going while idle. I found that really strange and was forced to cancel my idea.

Yes. All the characters are getting some reworked code to help them be more standardised, and easier to work with costume-wise. In fact, we're hoping to put together a system where you can override animations for any character, including the original 5. Whether this will be done by Beta 4 or not remains to be seen.

I don't think so, this would make the transition time to the title screen, a tad bit longer and make painful levels, even more of a pain to walk through.

I think he meant 1.0 as in the 1.0 of SMBX 2.0 Project.
