Forum rules bars are the easiest thing for short information like this, rather than an extra sticky / announcement thread. They allow every new user to see that requests aren't allowed and that projects must exist before you can post them. (also I was kinda surprised when I saw someone using Sendspace after a long time, but that was enough to show that this warrants to be mentioned too)
Intuition wrote:What I'm about to say shouldn't even be mentioned because it is stated in the forum rules. Please do not backseat moderate. I have seen countless posts of people posting "you need screenshots", or "you kinda need a download link". This also counts as backseat moderate and as such is not allowed. Saying stuff like "Not to backseat moderate, but ..." doesn't excuse it either. There is a report button anyone has access to in order to let the staff know that there's this user doing something wrong. Keep in mind that by saying "don't post" I'm not saying "you're in the way" or "you shouldn't help people out", as in contrary to what most people believe by reporting a message you're already helping that person.
Can I vouch for this again, as it also applies to posts like "I don't think requests are allowed"? As I mentioned back then, I don't really consider it "harmful", but in many cases I consider it pointless and gullible. Of course, no matter how clearly you explain and enforce rules, you'll always get your occasional hit-and-runner who posts a request or who posts "New Super Mario Bros X coming soon, no screenshots sorry, kthxbai", only to disappear forever from the site. You can clearly identify them as hit-and-runners oftentimes and you can clearly see that they only do it to for attention. You shouldn't respond them just like you shouldn't respond to spambots.

I brought the second one up right at the start of the topic. Apparently they're going to look into enforcing the rule, but yet again, nothing has been done about it. There seems to be this really bad habit of archiving important announcements just because they have stayed up for a very long time and they'll think we'd have got the message by now, yet the archives are only for stuff that is not relevant anymore or should be preserved, like old contests and funny joke topics like the infamous templets. Even after archiving, new users will come in and post their own levels/request graphics unaware of these rules, and in these cases it's really unfair for new users to be punished for breaking rules they didn't even know about just because it's right at the bottom of the archives and they wouldn't even expect to look in there, especially when the forum description explicitly states it's for topics that aren't relevant.
To be honest, what they need to do is bring back said two announcements, but only have them as announcements to their specific forums, rather than be global across the entire board.
I agree. I think we should really do something about this, cause it's a big problem for new users.

I actually did some searching, and it turns out that Valtteri is still in the Level Judges group? I'm surprised that group still exists, and that he's still in there.

That's odd. Why haven't they removed it yet?

I'm guessing they might bring back the Level Judges again in the future, but that's unlikely. They might as well just remove the usergroup entirely even if that's the case.

Since, Valtteri is the only LJ there. And I guess the level judges might do something on the old level forum (in archieve).

Um, nope. The archive forums are totally locked.

They aren't completely locked, I remember there were some archive posts that were edited during this year's Easter Egg hunt.
Also, I don't get why the admins haven't done something about the whole Archived Rules thing, since it's a really big problem. A similar thing is going on in the new level forum, where the rules don't state clearly that you have to put all your levels in the same topic.
Also, why haven't anyone done anything about the Episodes forum description (It still states that featured episodes are a thing).

because mods can do that. Technically they could still sort the last unreviewed levels but there's barely any point with doing that.
And yes, the staff should answer the points we make, at this point it's just regular users talking :p

What? Seems like you pressed the submit button a bit too early.
Also, I agree with Supershroom, why aren't the admins responding?

That is true. I don't know if Joey plans on doing featured episodes again in the future.

I hope featured episodes come back. But this time, the community should vote for the featured episode, instead of Joey choosing it.

There's only like one good episode per year released though.

What rules are archived that are still pertinent?
There's no official rule that states that you have to put all of your levels in the same topic. It's just what we pushed everyone to do, and now everyone does it and someone who's looking at the forum should be able to see the pattern.

Requests and sendspace links not being allowed.(I mean, Sendspace is dead, but many new users request graphics)

Ah. Well, requests would probably be part of a "Graphics forum rules", should the staff ever decide to create that. Sendspace enforcement is up to them too. Wouldn't hurt to have some sort of guide telling people which services to use for various tasks like that.
