It looked much better before, especially since there are some elements that aren't darkened

Counts as a fortress, right?
Heck yeah this is possible in 2.0.
I figured the hole at the bottom would be no issue since the example has one, too.

Yes, that looks great. Thanks for the submission!
Dwarven Digger, try using different colors instead of just making them darker/lighter. You should also cut down on the cloud BGO usage.

I have a new submission, but Imgur's website doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so I can't upload my image. I've removed some of the clouds and recoloured all the airship blocks to use one of the SMB3 wood tile colours. I have also made a couple of other additions, such as giving the skull on the bullet bill blaster red eyes and adding an airship piece with a bob-omb on the side. But, I can't provide you with an image yet, as I can't upload it to the website.

You can also try Photobucket or DeviantArt for whenever Imgur's down

Why are the clouds darker than the background?

I am going to resubmit my forest because it has been overlooked as a result of some previous posts and lack of feedback.

I really like that screenshot. One thing though There is cutoff on the top-left of the dirt tiles around the pipe inside the blocks.

The only thing that bothers me is that the large Piranha Plant on the left side of the screen isn't in a pipe.

That looks neat, thanks for the submission!
I may decide to close the contest and announce the winners at the beginning of January. We'll see.

I've just counted a rough total of ~40 entries (maybe 38 ... not sure yet).
Good job everyone

I think you've just counted the screenshots posted in this thread. There are entries that are sent through PM.

I may be a bit late, but here are my submissions anyways:
I am not too good with this kind of things, but I try anyways. Also, since I never got a reply to my question back in the days, I used my personnel graphical style, which should be okay, I guess.
Everything on the screens is made in PGE for SMBX 1.3, so the Ptooies and the spinning platform are working and not fake. :-)

That blue cave and sky screen do not follow the requirements. Cavern screens are supposed have a complete ceiling without gaps (yours does have them) the sky screen is the exact opposite, sky screens must be completely open at the top. And unless there is some exception for cloud-bgo's your sky screen doesnt follow that requirement. The castle should also be closed off but I personally think the thwomp suffices.

Thank you for the input. I wasn't too sure about the ceilings being fully closed off, or the cloud-BGOs, but I updated it anyways, including closing off the ceiling in the fortress-screenshot and changing small details in all the other screens:
Updated screenshots: show
Hopefully this is better now.

You can't have any PGE transparent item blocks or anything that otherwise would only be there in an editor. Also, I would cut down a bit on the scenery.
