Seriously, you MUST make the transition. Unless you are a masochist that wants to continue with an old, buggy editor that doesn't have important tools like the multiselection or tileset editor.

Nope 8-)
So you guys prefer a clunky and slow editor which screws up bgo-ordering upon saving over a faster and more versatile editor which can do everything the other one can, but better?

README files are fine if they actually include crucial information?

If I remember correctly yes you can but you need to call it by its name followed by "Readme" (e.i: your level is called "VolcanicMatters", so the readme should be called "VolcanicMattersReadme.txt").

I don't use a lot of layers and events and stuff in my levels, so regular SMBX works fine for me, and I'm happy with it. I've thought about using PGE but I never got around to actually trying it
Plus SMBX 2.0 is coming out soon

Well yeah. Cuz you can test your levels without opening 3 more windows into a buggy player.

Well, it's not that hard.
Just download it when you're afk or something.
It's a lot easier than the smbx editor.

That would reveal to the judges what level you made and thus disqualify you.
Not really because I will extract the .zip archives and then put all the extracted levels into one archive and send it to the judges.
Since we're talking about PGE, I personally use it when I need the multi selection and copy/paste features but mainly I use the original editor. It's what I'm used to and not half as bad as people are saying it is.

Hm, I guess I was too quick to judge it. I saw the screenshots and thought it was a huge learning curve
Still, I'm already quite used to SMBX. Is it easy to make the transition?

I'm not saying PGE isn't a perfectly capable editor, because it is. It's in development, though, and it won't let me do that many things. I'm just lazy as well, since even when SMBX 2.0 comes out, I won't transition.
Also, I find SMBX perfectly okay, since I don't use layers or events.

It has a lot of bugs for me that make near impossible for me to have a good productivity. Example: cursor becoming invisible

But PGE has a lot of things that make the life easier, even if you don't use layers and events.
