Hello,

I am "very" looking forward to the final version 2.0. :)

Can anyone tell me a date until 2.0 in the final version is "expected" ready to download?

@ all: Happy New Year. :)

We don't know yet. But I would probably say sometime in February or March. Happy 2016 as well.

Just finished downloading, hoping it's just as good (if not better) than 1.3.0.1.

(First post. Yay!)

It will be. SMBX 2.0 is supposed to be a heavy improvement over the original, and there are even new features being included as well, although it will require coding skills.

Just to make it clear though, coding isn't required to use SMBX 2.0 in a basic sense, plus there are pre-written codes you can use to import the new characters. There's just features, etc. you can easily access that require Lua knowledge. If you don't know Lua yet, don't fret, there's still a ton of cool stuff you can do and lots of places to find help and resources to learn it.

@Linix, It certainly works with all the world here - http://www.smbxgame.com/episodes.php

One thing though--When I quit my episode to change my controls to gamepad, I couldn't select gamepad. I hit Enter & Jump, but it wouldn't change over.
I would make a short YT vid showing it, but I don't know how to record pc stuff.

I assume it just doesn't support gamepads yet?

@PixelPest, I have literally no idea what Lua can do, or how to use it. Or where to find the ability to put in new characters.
Seriously. Last time I heard Lua was 2 years ago on SMW once.
Any maybe ROBLOX. That's it though.

Nice to see my Rosalina graphic in a game, even though it is a modified version since my Rosalina was done to replace Link. Only thing that's missing now is that her arms are still exposed instead having her dress go all the way to her hands. But I really had trouble making it look good without the contrast.

Btw In my version I didn't make the frames where she is going left different from the right frames (This Rosalina changes due to her face not being symmetrical/her hair covering one eye). Because somehow it irritated me having different graphics for the other direction. With such few pixels the character easily looks like a completely different person when you turn around. Also, most asymmetrical characters of old school games are handled the same way, Link is asymmetrical, too. (shield and sword hand change when he turns around) Even Rosalina herself has that star wand which should be on the other side when going left. By just flipping the graphic she puts in her other hand. So making the hair "correct" while not having the wand flip is kindof inconsistent.

I personally prefer having everything just flipped, since it is the typcial thing to do with old school graphic games, any other opinions on this?

Basically, LunaLua allows you to mod SMBX mechanics and gameplay.

But right now don't get your hopes up. It's VERY far down on the list of things to do and WON'T be in 2.0. Maybe that'll be the key new featured added to 3.0 or 4.0 or something. But yeah, it's under consideration. Just... VERY low on the list.

If you mean UPDATED launcher, yes.

Hi everyone!

I was searching on the PGE forums and I couldn't find anything about this. I also posted there this questions but I might have more luck here: the one feature I miss more in SMBX is to be able to play in full-screen with true widescreen. In SMBX 1.3.1, when I go full-screen the image is streched to fill my 16:9 screen, so it is not really widescreen. Many new Sonic fan-games are now being done in widescreen, and they really look better and what is more important: have a better gameplay (you can see a lot more of the level map in your screen, so you know better where to jump or what is ahead). So two questions regarding this:

- Does or will PGE / SMBX 2.0 be able to do widescreen episodes?
- If answer for first question is yes: would it be possible to play episodes done for SMBX 1.3.1 in widescreen? I know this is hard (for example it is not possible to play all roms for Snes in widescreen, there is no possible hack for that like we have for some 3D games in other console's games) but in this case there is full access to the code so I believe it could be possible...

Now another thing I would love to see: Every time I play a Snes or Sega Genesis game with an emulator I use graphic filters (image scaling), I am not a fan of pixelated games, so I just use filters and its almost like having HD games. My favourite filters are Super Eagle and HQ4x. Would it be possible to apply filters like these to low-resolution games (like the SMBX episodes) in a future?

Thanks a lot for readying!

Check out the link below to find out how to add new characters. To create the lundll.lua file, just create a new .txt file in your custom graphics folder for the level and when you rename it lunadll, delete the extension .txt and change it to .lua. Your computer will likely tell you that changing a file's extension could make a file extension unusable--just agree to this and continue. Now, to edit this file download Notepad++. http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... 69&t=12546

Not a priority, likely not happening, likely absurdly hard to pull off.
I respect these priorities, still its hard for me to understand how it is not a very demanded feature. Almost everybody has a 16:9 monitor nowadays (some even wider) so we are basically wasting a big part of our monitors. 2D games in my opinion gain a lot from widescreen monitors, because not being able to see what is a little ahead has always been an issue we had to deal with in 2D side-scrolling games and we do not have to deal with that anymore. Hope they implement it some day! thanks for your answer ;)

I do not like, that the SMBX 2.0 editor is PGE. (I can not make thinks with this.)

I hope the normal editor will be in 2.0. (like in 1.3.0.1 or LunaLua)

It will not be supported, as we cannot improve it without the source code. PGE is now the main editor and Classic SMBX will only be used for testing levels and playing episodes until PGE is complete.

Can I use LunaLua or 1.3.0.1 and port this to 2.0?

2.0 is backward compatible if that's what you're asking.

What do you mean you can't make anything with pge?
Some more information would be great nc apparently everyone else can do stuff with it.

This might be what you're looking for (not sure if it's compatible with 2.0, but it probably is):
