The problem with the old one was that you didn't even need to keep your distance; it had a really short-lasting hitbox and wasn't considered unblockable like most final smashes, so you could just spot dodge or hang on a ledge to avoid it. The new one will probably be unblockable, working similarly to Meta Knight or Zelda's final smash (first hit: unblockable and freezes opponent in place, second hit: damage and knockback)

It might also be the same thing as before (probably with more power and range, and obviously no transformation), considering that that was based on a move in Super Metroid called the Crystal Flash.

I don't think he's that obvious since now he's the first Fire Emblem character after Marth to be in a second smash bros game. I still keep my hopes up for a third, non-swordsman fire emblem character.

It doesn't seem to me that we have a big enough data set to say that he's the "first". While it may technically be true, he and Roy are the only non-Marth Fire Emblem fighters in Smash.
There is a fair indication of who might still make it in the game. First is Polar Bear from Smash Run. While this doesn't necessarily mean that the Ice Climbers have any chance of returning, Polar Bear is marked under its own respective series(that is, if its actual series symbol was shown in trailers for Smash Run). The same could count for the item Mr. Saturn, and the assist trophies Ashley, Waluigi, and Samurai Goroh, respectively. If that means anything, then Wario, Captain Falcon, and Ness(maybe Lucas) could apply under the same circumstance as the Ice Climbers. As for Jigglypuff: we currently have about 4 pokemon representatives for ssb4. Now she may be in it since she was in since the original SSB, though I can't say that this will hold true. Furthermore, there are currently 16 representing series ranging from 1-5 in each. This almost ties up with Brawl which had 17(18 if you count R.O.B from SSE) and beating Melee's 13 series reps.
This is history's most important announcement, along with the announcement today that a GameCube controller to Wii U adapter is going to be released for Smash (also in this video).
Seriously, everything about this is unbelievably hype and it's the greatest possible outcome that the Smash community could've hoped for. E3 can't come any faster.
