I'd like to thank everyone working on this and I'm looking forward to the full release of 2.0!

I think I'm most looking forward to Frog Suit, so excited to hear that Frog Suit is apparently high on the priority list. I was so excited I started drawing other Mario characters in Frog Suits...

It leaves me with a question though. Does adding new power-ups come with the drawback of requiring more sprites? I mean, every character and every costume needs another spritesheet! Some characters use color swaps of course! That gives me an idea for Link though...(Zora Tunic, Zora Armor, or Zora Link?) It sounds very time-consuming!

Oh, and I love that Zelda can ride Yoshi! I assume it's because she's based on Luigi (right?) but I really hope she keeps that as it's really interesting. Gives me some great level ideas.
That gives me one more question...will new "vehicles" (Yoshi, Kuribo Shoe, Koopa Clown Copter) be easier to make with 2.0?

That was a concern raised much earlier in 2.0's development -- not just more sprites, but more mechanics and behavior to code so each character has their own unique take on the suit. New powerups really weren't much of a priority until after I made the frogsuit prototype on a whim :3

Once the powerup array is expanded, we may make some powerups specific to the original 5 characters or have undefined states default to one of the character's defined states until they're implemented.

That's something I'd like to do myself
The tech isn't quite there yet but we're looking into it in the process of expanding the other asset arrays.

Another question. Would putting a random folder in the 2.0 worlds folder put the levels in the selection of the challenge??

When i try to run SMBX 2.0, first up the launcher opens fine, but when i start an episode, i get this problem:
SMBX won{t start, i checked the task manager and the process was running, but nothing else happened.
What should i do?
But PGE works fine.

I have another question I forgot to ask...
Where should we post bugs and glitches related to 2.0 Beta problems? Here? Somewhere else? I wonder if it would help.

So...each power-up is a ton of work...I guess I won't expect them very frequently. So you started the Frog suit?? Awesome!

Would it be very difficult for random folks like myself to help with power-up variations for the newer characters?
That's something I'd like to do myself

Okay! (someday Mega Man X ride armor, someday...)

This is oc a topic to discuss the 2.0 beta, so you can ask everything here. Or you drop a question on Discord. (Help & Support is more meant for general questions on the engine and especially the LDer)

Yes! Be careful if it is a WIP episode though, as if it has unfinished levels, then those levels will essentially break the Mario Challenge episode.

Have you tried changing the resolution, that seemed to solve the problem for me for some reason.

This is not true. Mario Challenge will filter any levels that have no exits, so you only have to worry if you've placed some kind of star or goal without a way to reach it.

Can someone explain this error to me and what can be done to fix it?

Image

It sometimes happen after I exit an episode and scroll through the list of episodes.I attempted to make the same thing happen again, but I can't so this error comes up at very random times, not very frequently however, but it just pops up and I wonder what it is.

Edit: This topic I made a few days back has a larger clearer image

Basically it means your graphics card has a very small amount of memory available to it. It's possible you may need to update your graphics card.

My graphics card is already up to date. But I do have a shitty Intel HD Graphics card. But this error doesn't happen very frequently, it just occurs now and again at times.

I've had it occur every once in a while as well. I just restart the game and it seems to resolve itself

Basically this can occur if you play a level that as a lot of different graphics, or if you switch costumes a lot. It just means your graphics card is trying to load more than it can fit. Updated graphics drivers can sometimes help, but there is a limit to what your card can do. There are possible ways to improve this on the LunaLua end, and that's being looked into.

Alright that's very reassuring.

Hi everyone!
So I randomly came across some colour inconsistencies on SMW Switch and ?-Blocks (both between each other and relative to the source), which I wanted to fix.
While fixing, I thought about addressing the indistinguishability of the yellow ?-Block and Switch Blocks and I wanted to ask you guys whether or not you agree with the changes I would make to them...
This is the 1.3 colour scheme:

Here's how I would change them:

Apologies for the bad gif loop and colour hiccup.

What do you think?

Yes. That is a great idea, and more consistent with the switch blocks

Honestly, this new version looks ok.... but now the level editor is worse.

-Scrolling is wayyyy tooo fast. I'm just trying to add a scenery in a certain part of the level and instead I end up at the end of the screen.

-The editor looks more messy. It took me 3 days to find the Tile button, and I found it by hovering my mouse on every single thing.

-What is wrong with level testing??? 1.3.0.1 would just let you test right away, but now you have to open a lag induced window every single time you want to test something.

-Speaking of level testing, none of the engines work. I get a black screen and the window closes itself/ I appear in the demo stage with a bunch of random items and the window closes itself.

Without level editing, SMBX is nothing to me and encourages me to go back to the version that most people won't use in a few months

-Are you scrolling with the arrow keys? If so, it's about as fast as the old editor.
-Initially, the editor can be intimidating, but if you spend 5-10 minutes to look through the menus and try out the buttons, you'll work more efficiently than with the legacy editor in no time!
-"lag induced" sounds like a problem with your pc. You hit F5 and then you're in the game! The initial startup requires you to wait for SMBX to load, but that's hardly a loss considering you don't have to do it a second time. If SMBX crashes due to whatever reason, it won't take the editor down with it, too.

Do you get any error messages? Please describe your actions in detail and provide screenshots of suspicious behaviour.

''you don't have to do it a second time''
Ah, I forgot to specify which one is which.
Well when I press F5, I have to open a window every time, so what you said is not really true.
This is what happens when I try to test by pressing F5

Image
''A problem made this window close. Window will find a way to bring a solution''

So then I have to use the Alpha or the saved file engine
But they both bring up this:

Image

Honestly I don't even know how to fix those. I just can't test my levels anymore
