I just downloaded the .exe and I really like the opening screen. Why didn't you use that title font in the first page of your thread? It looks loads better than the one you showed lol. Also the hype is real!

What would happen if you try to simply put the beta into 2.0?

It will not work becuase this uses blocks 632+ and BGOs 340+. NPCs are easily removable to convert to 2.0 though.

Then your internet connection is surely fine. :-D
About the .png, I surely can do it, if I do not forget it. I will make an updated project/episode banner which you can use then. ^^
75 MB per Second. A Thumbnail helps, thank you.

You should make a 1.4 port so that 1.4 players can play this. I am a 2.0 player BTW.)

1.4 will be dead at the time he finishes it.

Or maybe the 1.4 players should get off their lazy asses and get 2.0 if they want to play 2.0 episodes.

Wait, you don't even need to get up for 2.0, you just download it off MEGA.

Considering this is a mostly 1.3 episode, it is technically compatible already. If he starts using lua though... Anyway, the custom EXE shows it is neither 1.4 or 2.0. It can be converted to 2.0 though. Anyway, are the custom songs in the episode folder or the music folder?

The one I used is from around 4 and a half years ago, while the one on the opening screen is some months old. That is the reason I did not use it. :-P
But I will make a new banner with the new font, replacing the old rubbish font.
Either tomorrow or monday will be the release of the beta. I still need to betatest 1 world and then setup the beta for release. ^^
Cedur wrote:What would happen if you try to simply put the beta into 2.0?
You would see a mess of missing graphics, mostly. The worldmap would be unviewable aswell as most of the levels. I replaced almost all default graphics of SMBX with my custom ones, so the loading time is as small as possible during levels. Also, you would not have much fun listening to the music, as I replaced most of the default music and sound, too. Oh, and almost all hardcoded graphics, aswell as almost all dummy blocks, BGOs, tiles, paths, etc. :-P
Yes, I highly recommend against using it without the custom .exe. Really. ^^
Noodle wrote:You should make a 1.4 port so that 1.4 players can play this. I am a 2.0 player BTW.)
When this project is done, building levels-wise, I will adjust it to SMBX2, but I will never convert it to 1.4 for many reasons. My episode is build quite closely around SMBX 1.3's physics and setup, so I cannot do that anyways, as SMBX 1.4 breaks too much of it. I am sorry for that inconvenience.
MECHDRAGON777 wrote:Are the custom songs in the episode folder or the music folder?
It is both. The soundtracks used in some more levels, are in the default music folder, while the ones used only in one or two levels, are placed in the episode folder. This way I can have two custom musics in the same section, in SMBX 1.3.
Musicality_Minister45 wrote:Yes it's almost ready, been waiting for a LONG time!

Also what is a custom .exe and why?
Sorry for not answering you earlier, but your post was not shown to me before. In case of SMBX, I made it a custom .exe by editing hardcoded text and graphics in it, that cannot be altered by simply replacing the graphics in any folder. This way I can give the Kuribou's Shoe, the Podoboo's Shoe, or the Lakitu's Shoe a different look (as you cannot replace these graphics as simple as Yoshie's sprites). Also, the HUD of the game, the worldmap boarder, Yoshie's tongue, the different fonts, etc also look different in my custom .exe of SMBX.

I am actually converting the custom exe to be 2.0 compatible.

I just did a test recording of this. Using OBS and this EXE on Airship Attack, the game runs at 65 FPS the entire time and my PC stays at 95%. The only thing I need to make is the background for the video. With the screen being 30% black, ehh... Anyway, looking forward to recording this on Tuesday.

Edit: Why is NPC 95, 98, 99, and 100 default graphics if 96 and the yoshis in the yoshi folder custom?

Erm, eh - yes... the beta is out now.

I wish you lots of fun with it! ^^
And please feel free to leave feedback, suggestions and possible bugreports here, so I can see where I screwed up again. :-P

Also, you may want to redownload the custom .exe (both download-links are updated), to fix the bug MECHDRAGON mentioned below, aswell as an ugly soundbug that SMBX pulled off at me right at the end. :-/ (quite some sounds will be played with a delay of around 0.4 seconds)
MECHDRAGON777 wrote:Why is NPC 95, 98, 99, and 100 default graphics if 96 and the yoshis in the yoshi folder custom?
I fixed this problem in the updated custom .exe. I tested the Yoshies, but there was no problem for me, so that got under my radar unfortunately. Thank you for reporting this, though.

Coping the files over now, did not expect half a Gigabyte from the Episode alone. Glad to be of help.

I noticed in the editor that the npcs still looked like they needed .txt measurements. Anyway, I'm downloading the beta now! The hype is real!

Edit: It is not half a gigabyte huge lol, it's around 213 MB

But there are only about 200 MB, not 500MB. Please don't scare people away. xD

This is a normal state. I set everything up, so that the time SMBX needs to load a level is as small as I can keep it. The more files in the episode folder, the longer each level needs to load. Ingame everything should be fine, though. :-)

It was 400 MB for me. Also, you can not put NPC.txt files in the base Graphics folder. If they are in the Episode folder, it is fine.

Edit: 292 unzipped

You updated the custom EXE, is it optimized for Suoer Mario Bros X 2?

No, it is not. I am willing to help if he needs it, but he said something about after the main game is finished.

Zipped, the exe is 104 MB and the episode is 213 but the file size unzipped was what I was getting at. I also saw 400MB in the bottom left while I was downloading (which took 13 seconds).

While SMBX2 uses LunaLoader core, you can try to swap exe, and it must work. One exception when customized grapgics may be overriden dynamically from LunaLua side features

P.S. Sednaiur, nice Peachy drawn on your new poster! :-) she drawn very beautiful, perfect job! :-D

Why not to make a playable sprite based on this to use it somewhere later? You can make sprite bigger than original and you dont need to care original behavior and picture alignment, because you are able to align hitbox by using "pge_calibrator" tool (on opening the sprite you need to press "edit" and confirm wish to edit hitbox properties. Then setup hitbox for every frame and save calibration). Calibration filea can be used in LunaLua and recently in PGE Engine in custom levels (not only by modifying config pack)

Recorded Parts 1 and 2 100% so far. I think I got into World 2's back entrance. PS their is a door in the Shrine that is killable. It can also hurt the player and killed me in part 1.
