Sometimes the majority can't get what they want.

Actually thinking about it, this topic method does look much tidier than if we were to make a dozen forums for everything:

I suggest theme seperating:
Grass
Desert+Ruins
Water+Beach
Mountain+Sky
Ghost+Dark
Castle+Factory
Jungle+Forest
Millitary (Airship, Tank, Navy)
Cave+Lava
Something else

I'll post a beta in a second, including graphics from pages 36-40 and will add to it in the next few days, until I caught up with everything. I have a different setup as of now, but with more graphics being added that might change later on. The way I have it now makes sense for the graphics I have encountered so far, but yours sounds interesting.

Yeah, organizing them in one index topic by theme sounds like a good idea. Better than like 50 subforums.

Marina wrote:Huh, I'm curious as to what speaks against having more subforums for SMBX-related things? I mean, it would only help make the forum more organized, right?
Well, two reasons:

As for creating subforums in general: I really don't like unnecessary subforum creation because those forums usually don't generate enough discussion to actually exist (see: other SMBX forums that have had sections for "TV & Movies", "Music", "Anime", "Terraria", etc.). I realize though that this is kind of different since it's more about sharing graphics, but still.

As for creating subforums for anything SMBX-related: the game is very slowly fading out of relevance - creating more subforums would go against the natural depreciation of interest that is happening.

And an other idea, which isn't subforum:
Creating threads per the themes, then people would post the link to their topic about the graphic. (like: post a canyon tileset in the desert gfx thread)
Joey don't need to do much work, and you won't have to search that much.

There's still a lot of people that have interest in SMBX. I don't see why you won't do this just because you believe the game is dying.

It's not dying it's already dead. Also i am far sure a lot of people will switch over to pge as soon it's done and gets a lot of new stuff.

I wouldn't call it dead, I would call it rather "transforming". You can still see heavy activity for MaGL X2 and LunaLua give some people new fresh ideas.

I didn't say there weren't people with interest in SMBX. I said there's a depreciation of interest in SMBX. If we created a bunch of graphic subforums, we would end up removing them somewhere down the road.

But by following that logic and mindset, if we created a forum dedicated to SMBX, we would end up removing it somewhere down the road.

Just because your views on SMBX's status are rather negative doesn't mean you could actually do something for the community by creating a really nice subforum for the graphics.

If you want to call yourself the leader of the SMBX community, don't look at SMBX in a negative way and actually do something for the community that would benefit it.

Did you bother to read the rest of my post or are you just nitpicking reasons to call me out for something irrelevant?

Joey, I really think you should hear 8bit out. Just because he's 8bit doesn't mean his argument is automatically invalid.

Yeah, I agree with Zeldamaster; 8bit's argument isn't exactly pointless and I think it makes a lot of sense actually.

I think, we should to create a GFX catalogue system which will provide search by various things to have able find stuff more convenient. It is my old idea to implement this thing to allow find necessary graphics to get usage of them. Engine will be based on the database with tables: graphics and categories, styles. We will have able to search graphics by: title, style, category, color theme, etc.

Gee, you mean the site that is dedicated to SMBX should discourage any expansion in the interest of the game for which it even exists? Somehow that offends my sense of logic.

This would be the best option. I could probably create it but it would take some time from me. Feel free to create something like this and I'll review it and add it to the graphics section of the site.

If I do these threads, would that be ok?
Grassland graphics
Desert and Pyramid graphics
Beach and Water graphics
Cave and Lava graphics
Forest and Jungle graphics
Mountain and Sky graphics
Ghost and Dark graphics
Misc. graphics
LunaDLL graphics
We don't need subforums, but we won't have to search much.
People would post to the thread and be able to post their tilesets
