Come to think of it, that level in SMB2 where Hawkmouth detaches itself from the wall and starts going nuts sort of creeped me out as a kid, though to be fair, it always was a dark-ish game of sorts.

Lmao speaking of Harry Potter... in HP2 for the pc... Peeves.
Just Peeves. He's one scary dude I tell ya.
He really scared me as a kid when I encountered him at the most unexpected times, I was really scared of him...
But then also in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, the creepy old chateau.
I mean there is already the creepy music but then there are also the ghost NPCs.
I know they don't do anything but 9yo me was really scared the first time I saw them, because they're not always there and appear at random times and then disappear offscreen.

I really don't like ghosts in video games lmao

I don't play FNAF, but I've seen photos and the jumpscares, and all that did was spawn nightmare fuels for my dreams. Also, what about when you start the 2nd mission of last mansion in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon? This is what happen to me, it was nighttime, about 11:00 at night and just started the mission. E Gadd pulls up the photo and the first thing I see is Mario stuck in the painting which I expected to happen, WHAT I DIDN'T EXPECT was to zoom into King Boo's back in the picture and for him to turn around and scream at me in his ghostly voice. I stared at it for a few seconds, slowly closed my 3DS, looked at the wall with a panicked look on my face, and screamed. Thanks, Nintendo. Thanks for scaring the living hell out of me. MIYAMOTO!

Most of whats been said would be repeated here but i do remember when i was 7years old i had an NES and was playing Super Mario Bros 3.
W1 no Problem W2 definite problem! its not the Annoying sun no it was the Boos *ahem* "Boo Diddies"...
The Face they made was just one word to me (NOPE!) oh and HotFoot was just as bad.
current me Top 5 things that still get me:
1-Faces
2-Fucked up Music
3-Being chased by something
4- Jumpscares( ;_; Foxy was the main culprit of this)
5- ANYTHING TO DO WITH SCP AND SLENDER!!! (btw SCP stands for Security Containment Protect and the actually Exist! but not the "test subjects"....maybe)

I don't really know how FNAF can be declared as "nostalgic" when it was released just last year.

Fun is Infinite in Sonic CD. I'm in a PAL region (Australia) but I'll never forget the day when I entered those three fateful numbers into the Sound Test...
It still haunts me to this day, but I still have Sonic CD on my iPad. I just avoid the Sound Test.
At the time, I didn't know what the text meant (probably no-one did) but when I found it, I was further away from the TV.
I confronted the TV closely, and saw those faces. I regret that decision to this day...

Nah. In the Sonic CD sound test, inserting the numbers 46, 12, 25 will give you the screen.
If you must, search it up.

I'd rather not...
But what's on the screen?

It's rows of Sonics with weird humanoid faces, with some Japanese text over it.

And the faces look similar to Mario's AND there's creepy music in the background. I saw a video on it, it didn't scare me but it did
give me shivers.

It might be less scary if you know what the text means

Yeah. The text makes it sound like an advertisement for the game.
