He isn't back. He's listed as a designer because he made levels for the game before leaving.
Two questions.
1. When did the development of this episode started?
2. Was Chad even a Level Desinger for offical SMBX episodes?

No, unfortunately not. As Valtteri said he listed as level desinger before leaving SMBX.

The idea for an updated Great Castle Adventure has been around since Redigit's old forum shortly after the invasion 2 was released. But I didn't start the current build of NGCA until probably two years ago. And, it's only been a community project for almost a year (when Valtteri, Zephyr, and Chad were added as level designers). Chad has since left SMBX but contributed four levels before leaving, and we're just giving him credit for those levels, which is why he remains listed as a level designer. Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, have you checked the progress of this project? We're pretty close to finishing this thing up!

Yeah, my guess is this project will wrap up within the next few months. A few things have to come together for that to happen, but I'm crossing my fingers.

We figured it was about time to show off some of the new progress so there are new screenshots on the first post. Also thank you joey and the forum staff for making this an official episode!
@Litdude32, we are doing our best to keep the bosses fair and fun to play. None of the bosses I have played are too hard.

Screens look great, as usual. Looking forward to featuring this on the site.
The screen with the mushroom platforms and SMW recolored wood/etc. has a background that looks a bit crowded, though (at the very least, I would adjust the sky so it's not such bright turquoise and has some shading). Also, the SMB3 single wooden block is recolored differently than the rest of the SMW-recolored wood.

The new screens look really good. This project seems to be coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to playing it when it's finished. Good luck!

That's one of my levels. Thanks for the help, Joey. I'll definitely make the necessary edits here before the episode releases.

All of the levels shown have really nice visuals, and it seems like each one has a pretty unique style. I respect that. One of the things I liked most about the original Great Castle Adventure is that the levels (at least some of them) mixed styles and integrated background objects really well, so they looked really good, especially considering that the episode had no custom graphics. Looking forward to this more than ever.

Yes the project is still in the works. Progress is not halted. I am having hard drive issues which could potentially cause me to lose one level, but everything else is backed up.

I'd like to add that I, as the project leader, am not having any computer issues. I say this to stress that I'm the one compiling all the levels and putting this episode together, which is why Zephyr's hard drive issues only affects the one level he was working on. We're hoping he can retrieve his level, but worst case scenario is he has to make that one level over again. Hopefully this puts everyone's minds at ease.

in other news, chad is rejoining the project team! we're not sure if he will be adding any more levels to the ones he has made already, but he is going to be helping us beta test at the very least.
it's great to have you back chad!

Ooh, good to hear Chad is back! Looking forward to this even more now, especially if he decides to make more levels.
