We are busy with other matters for the time being. Be patient.
Kep wrote:I appreciate the nostalgic tradition, but a forum containing ranks are disastrous. It's just like a cluttered profile and mini-profile for nothing. Nix do I support the whole theory, specially as it sets a terrible example for the immature posters as it is. Go ahead, add them, but I just don't particularly admire them and would rather not have any on my mini-profile out of a personal manner.
I don't see one little image as clutter, and I personally think you're overreacting a bit. There are plenty of forums out there that use ranks, and I don't see it causing nearly that much of a problem. If you're really going to complain about having a rank, we can disable it for your user.
Kep wrote:For a consequence of making tiny, nonconstructive posts just coz ranks exist, I'd remove one's post count AND rank and warn them if they question how much posts they've made or remark anything regarding ranks, custom ranks, or anything similar to that.
We already do this.
Kep wrote:If one strolls along with the flow well while ranks exist and shows decent behavioral things with it, I'd reward them with a free custom rank. That way it could encourage others to look up to the constructive posters and attach the thought that if they do well too perhaps someone would introduce them to their own custom rank.
Now it sounds like you're dying to have a custom rank.
Kep wrote:Hell, I even used to make microscopic posts a lot but for some reasons some people inspired me, like Chad or Natsu who both apparently and unfortunately barely even exist in the community anymore which is immensely disappointing. I feel I've became more bright, and then others will feel that way too hopefully by the addition of ranks even though it may not seem that way anymore.
So now you're justifying adding ranks in the first place and would encourage it. Way to contradict yourself. Not to mention writing lengthy walls of texts without any spacing is often worse than keeping things shorter and easy to read.
I am a patient dude, but the fact how no thread has yet been made regarding these ranks and what has been constructed yet indeed concerns me.
Well, disabling it COULD be ONE option I'd do, but maybe after ranks have been released I'll see what they appear like, how big or small they are, and how generally of a nuisance they become.
Perhaps I did overreact, but I was attempting to make up another reason why I didn't support forum ranks coz I feel I didn't have enough, lol, I apologize about that.
I really, really dislike custom ranks despite they being cool to be featured.
I already mentioned the fact that these were recommendations, I doubt they'll be added, so certainly I'm not dying to have a custom rank, even though
it would be nice to say the least.
I had no way of comprehending your last three sentences, they were all mixed up and weren't necessarily relevant to my post nor the topic itself. Writing lengthly walls of text IS worse, but my last post deserved to be one because, well, it was all nearly one paragraph that fit with each other.

I like Avos' suggestion that the post count should be hidden, though I'm aware that would probably require a bit of work since you'd still be able to see it under the members page. I don't think it matters much, though. If a forum that offers aesthetic benefits for a post count actually polices its members adequately, like this one, then there really isn't any issue.
Kep, if you don't like how forum ranks appear on your miniprofile, you can block the image. I use Adblock Plus for Firefox and whenever someone on here has a large nasty signature I just right click the image and block it using the plugin so I don't have to load it whenever I view their post. I'm sure there's a version of this for any other browser you might use.
About three-six inches of text could do the trick I believe.
I don't support Avos' text for an opposite reason, the post count shouldn't be hidden unless a particular user has a problem with it, and in that case could work with a person who makes nonconstructive posts frequently, or something like that.
I use the same browser you use, yay. Anyway, I've never heard of Adblock Plus, I'll have to test it out, what you said about it makes it at least sound relatively helpful.
