I could do the basis of such openness, and I may provide ideas to Darksword231 that could help. Actually, why not.
Darksword231, do the quest thing as long as the quest is in an individual level. Make another level. Have both levels connect in one area. Make more levels with a quest and attach those to the base level. Remember Super Mario 64? Progress by stars obtained. If you have multiple areas, set them up in the world map, then make base levels for those areas, then connect quest levels to them. I'm doing a similar system, but without the complicated quests. You'll do good, trust me. Good advice?

Well, my project under progess is a open world like, you can buy itens, walk in the city, unlock shortcuts, see the main objective acess tips and of course select levels.

It does not use lua, it is a simple shop : is needed a certain amount of star and a challenge must be complete in order to buy an item.

oh, ok. i was just thinking, as some people have made item shops that run using coins. (and before you say anything, they set the maximum coins to 99)

Cool. mine isn't complicated. Mine is going to be simple, but lengthy in gameplay. But, only you guys know. When I post, I'll let you know, but it might be a year before I actually start putting time in it. I have plans for five other episodes.
