That is because you have at least 1 Minus Rep. If you are at least on Scale 0 or above you have the ability to use the Repuation Function but since you have Minus 2 now you are unable to use it currently.

What do you mean? What messages?

I just got my 100 posts! However, after uprepping 3 people, I no longer see the reputation icons. Have I been restricted from my ability to use it, or is there a limit to how many people you can give/remove reputation from at a certain time? Or was I downrepped recently?

I think this has a purpose of not overuse the whole reputation function for a short amount of time. You have to deal with waiting until you can use the reputation again but I am not completly sure if that is completly right of myself.

I wasn't trying to abuse. I uprepped all the helpful people in the community.

Well still, you shouldn't really uprep that much people in a day. Even three is quite a bit.

You have to wait at least 1 day in order to use the reputation again. Please watch the main Topic of this thread next time because over there you can get pretty much every informations about of how the whole reputation works.

Upreping helpful people isn't wrong. I've done what mista epic did before.

Perhaps if someone gave you a reputation you don't like, such as R34 followed by a dumb poem, you wouldn't want people to see it. But other people would have their own reasons as well.

Plenty.

For one thing, users with negative karma are usually the ones who are really bad at judgement, hence why they're negative. It'd be really broken and suspect to abuse if karma meant you WEREN'T a part of the system and the people you downrep are.
For another, in a clean system, everyone would have 0 karma at the start. Read, not negative. Do not try to tell me that's negative, or I'm going to slap you with a math lesson.
And one more thing. I can see people asking for downreps instead just so they can spread karma around. Imagine christian07 and the like being responsible for your rep, my rep, and all the others.

You could've thought this through yourself. Why didn't you?
