In a way that's kind of a good thing.
Anyways, my biggest fail in this community (so far :P ) was this.

DEAR GOD WHY.

One time I tried to spam the chat a bit. I did it 2-3 times, I think.

Two things come to mind for me:

Scoring Valtteri's level super-low in... CC5, I believe? I took off way more points than deserved for issues that weren't even all real. Instead of trying harder to grasp the elements of the level I couldn't quite follow, I let my frustration cloud my judgment and score ridiculously. Whoops. I owned up to the mistake, though, and promptly agreed to having the review removed to keep it fair. I'm honestly surprised (and grateful) that Valtteri invited me back to judge, as I never would have expected him to after that. I've gone out of my way since to avoid repeating that mistake, and while I think I've more or less succeeded so far, the original incident is not a proud moment.

Becoming a staff member at any of the forums. I may have had a good handle of when and how to lock/move topics and such, as well as managing certain parts of the control panels when they felt necessary, but I was too passive and nervous when it came to the more important things like warnings/bans/spammers/having to singlehandedly decide the fate of an entire community split/etc. A good staff member has no problem with those kinds of things, and I'm a bit of a wuss in that department. I also didn't have a lot of confidence in my position to begin with, as I mostly took up the job because it was offered to me and I did fairly good as a Level Judge. I wanted to help out the community, and "give it a try and see how I do" (truly a winning mentality for an important position by the way). On one hand, it's good to get that kind of experience, but taking up the offer is probably not the best idea if you're not damn sure you know what you're doing. Don't repeat my mistakes, prospective staffers of the future.

well i certainly don't have a problem with bans and stuff
if any of you have been on #kf the past week you see how hard i banned red and his various spin offs

as for splits, i've never been in that kind of situation. the easiest way i see of handling it is to weigh out the pros and cons, but that can apply to any situation really

My biggest mistake in this community was trying to reason with Knux, in any way shape or form. I tell you people it's impossible!

I'd argue both forums had pretty bad staff. Revived was the most SMBX-centric forum at its time, and honestly it wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. The users at Revived cooperated and it felt peaceful and the perfect environment for sharing SMBX work.

no they didn't

quite the contrary

it wasn't a perfect environment lol. it would have more drama there in a month than this forum would have in a year

Regardless, I would say I wasted my time being at SMBX:R, because that's where all of my hate started firing up, and that's when I was incredibly troublemaking and immature and I had no like unless you count the all-around extremely friendly users who like everyone. Also, at the time of being there, I loved to stir up the pot and add wood to the fire.

I made a thread where people can talk crap about others. Only to get downrepped from a locked thread.

1.3 was released in October 2010 on TrekWeb.

I was lurking from 2009 until I joined Knux's. And being quite honest, TrekWeb was a pile of shit.

I'm curious as to what makes you say that, considering you weren't even a member there.

I can't remember much as again I only lurked but from what I remember shit got a bit over the top later on.
Or maybe it was just that Trek himself was a bit of a bad admin, again I can't quite remember.

I think the main reason people didn't like Trek was because he made jokes about snipers and banning. I don't know, I just always moved past that. Some of the stuff he said was pretty funny, too.

Also, the staff there was one of the most mature this community's ever seen. They had a comparatively low tolerance level for rulebreaking/general BS in the community, if my memory serves me well.

That's just what knux told everyone on his forum because he was banned.

I haven't a clue about TrekWeb so I can't comment on this.

I remember lurking in about 2010 when Knux's place was around simply because I couldn't find a download for SMBX. I kinda regret missing out on about 4 months of fun stuff when I first discovered the community.

He was funny, but the first thing he said when I posted my intro topic was something like "Don't cause trouble or you'll be banned". I said that's not the welcome message I expected from him, and he apologized, but I still think he was too blunt. That made him seem unprofessional. He was a pretty bad user on Redigit's forum (where he was EvilTrek), too. He started some stupid forum games like "ban the poster above you" and he wasn't liked by the administration. In the end I thought some of his staff choices (like Blaarg) were really weird. If I recall correctly he promoted Blaarg because they played some game together and he was begging users for donations to maintain the server.

He was just unprofessional in my eyes and I'm sure other people think the same.
