I would try, but my (lack of) originality doesn't help. I started a NSMBW level a while ago, never completed it.

Trust me. SMBX is a LOT like NSMBW. You should try it, and practice until you get the hang of it. I could send you an easy level to start off with.

From what I read, SMBX is customizable by the features it offers, but nothing like ASM hacking.

It'd be interesting to make an open-source version of it. Although I'm not sure about the copyright issues one might face in such a project.

But that's my point of view, really. I'm pretty much only a programmer, so yeah
