As soon as I was asked for a Microsoft Account just to install Windows I reinstalled Windows 7. You can't just have these people invading on your privacy for no good reason.

You can opt for a local account.

Welp.
I'm an idiot.
Either way, I prefer the Windows 7 look and feel to Windows 8's.

Actually, I'd take the XP gui over 7 or 8.

search still exists
search is how i get to anything whether it be on 7 or 8. and then i go on xp and im dying due to a lack of search lol

and if you don't feel like opening the the start menu you can just do winkey+s and it'll bring up a search thing on the side

My parents have Windows 8. My dad finds it confusing, but my mom loves it. I, however, have Windows 7, and I'm going to stick with it for a long time I have a feeling.

As long as Microsoft continues to use that dated NT kernel that's filled with so much junk from older versions of windows, nothing will ever come of it.
I would love to switch permanently to Linux but there's just so much missing. There's nothing that has the same charm as Visual Studio on Linux, GitHub is a pain in the ass on there, etc.

I don't mind. However, one day, my built-in speaker and my screen broke while I was watching Sethbling (yes, the minecraft youtuber). Afterwards, I went through several headsets and speakers, and now I am stuck with a terrible Canz 808 until the weekend.

Anyways, I don't actually mind. Wish there was an easier way out of the options and to get to %Appdata%.

I have Windows 8.1, and I'd have to say, I really like it. I don't see why people are complaining about the start button. Once you get used to it, it's not bad at all, and it's actually organized and easy to navigate through.

Ever since I got this Windows 8 laptop (My old Windows Vista desktop computer is broken. :c) the first thing I did was download and install Classic Shell to get the original start menu, so I've only ever used the new thing once because I like to stick to what I'm used to. I don't even use the Windows 8 version of Skype, I just downloaded the desktop version.

Nothing is bad. They have opinions yeah but it isn't bad to me. I used them before and they are good. They are not like Apple PCs.

Don't get me started on Apple. I see them as only an inferior competitor (in the PC business) who tries to get free money with lawsuits. Apple also insults Microsoft a lot (the old Microsoft vs. Apple commercials), but even goes as low as to say Microsoft badmouths Apple in one of the commercials, which is hypocritical since Apple is badmouthing Windows in every commercial.
Because Microsoft isn't doing that.

I hope you can give us more reasonal discussions over there as of why you hated Windows 8. Also, to me, Win 8 isn't hard. You just have to deal with all of those changes they did of course.

Well, first off, the desktop version of Skype absolutely refused to download. I tried everything, but Windows 8's built-in security called it a virus (I downloaded it from the official website), refused to download it, wouldn't even allow it to finish installing, etc. The metro-app Skype is too annoying to switch to, so my first main problem.
My second problem is that searches require about 300% as much effort as on Windows 7.
Problem 3: Incompatible with about 90% of the Game Maker Games I play.
