That is a ridiculous way to look at this situation. Blueoak "worked his arse off" in the form of spreading a short campaign. So, if I may correct you, he did absolutely nothing. The poll was placed in the community's hands - much of the community voted for Blueoak, but in the end, the admins made the final decision. The fact that you're trying to turn this around on me and call me insensitive is just not something I'm going to tolerate.

I never entered this thing to win it. Hell, only reason I decided to enter was because if the community wanted me, I would be willing to change my mind.
Still, I made top 5. That is, more or less, my estimation of how far I'd get.
So I'm happy. Congrats to the winners. You two are part of the monsters now.

Which brings me back to - why was the final decision placed in the admins' hands?

I saw it and it pretty rude. Please don't insult Kley and I because we didn't have any input on the decision. You can discuss the decision here or talk in a PM with the staff if you need, just don't insult people. :p
if you insulted kley you actually deserved to get your post removed, don't hate, kley's the greatest.
so am i the only one here that thinks knux is the greatest of all time? go knux woo.
On a side note, if I hadnt said it already. I'm not hating GhostHawk or Kley, I'm hating on Joey for the bias poll, and the thought of a poll that obviously turned to shit. Congrats on staff both of you. I just think it'd save a lot of arguing if it was without the poll though.
And Joey... this probably won't be the last time someone disagrees with you, or calls bullshit on your actions. That's most likely a promise.

If it were literally up to the administration, why even have the poll in the first place? Not only does it waste time but it gets the hopes of others, like Blueoak, way up. Especially when that user is the most popular vote of the community.

You pretty much stole the whole consept of a poll, if you wanted people to decide that would be the way,if anyone on there should be a mod it had to be blue or natsu since both of them were at the peak of votes.
But,you implemented your own way to decide the winner, not only breaking a tie to the top 5 but ignoring most of the votes that went on blue and natsu.if you were to make a private vote with admins, you could have added the opinion of the people who voted.giving both blue and natsu 1 point each.

Er… congratulations, Kley and GhostHawk. I'm sure you'll make fine moderators, really.
Still though Joey, I agree that this process was a little messed up. You shouldn't have had this poll if it never meant anything, and you ignored all our complaints back in the poll thread.

I think this whole poll idea was the shittiest idea Joey managed to pull out of his ass in quite a while, and to me it honestly seemed like a last minute resort. "Oh lord, I can't decide who to make a moderator, I wonder what I should do? I know! I'll create a poll that will generate a large amount of bias! This will surely make my community so much better!"
Joey, first you went and said that the votes are for only one moderator, you went and chose two moderators. The point of the voting was just to get people to the top five, wherein you and the other administrators chose which person you liked more. The administrator voting came to a 3 to 2, you should have had the highest vote, being Kley, get moderator position, not hire two moderators because of it. That's not how votes work.
Also, Blueoak did spend a lot of time trying to get to moderator. He prepared a campaign-like thing, he delayed himself revising for his exams, he readied himself, he made a promise. The majority of the voters voted for both him and Natsu, that's what everyone wanted, that's what should have happened, not what we have now. You have let down the people that had voted for them. Please don't pull your "people voted for their friends" bullshit on me again, because that's not the truth.
You came to a tie on the polls, you decided to take GhostHawk over Magician. Up comes the administration votes, there are only four administrators in total. GhostHawk has two votes, one of them I know is from you. Kley has three votes. Where did the extra vote come from? I thought the administrators were going into a serious discussion, not a smaller-scale vote. If there was just going to be a vote, why not let the community decide? From the top ten, Natsu should have gotten the moderator position in the first place, based on votes. If you were going to add two moderators (I still have no clue how you came to that decision after telling everybody the votes were for a single moderator), Natsu and Blueoak should have gotten the positions in the first place, based on votes.
I honestly don't think this whole "vote for a new staff member" was really all that smart of an idea. The community voted for who they wanted, and in the end, Blueoak and Natsu prevailed, they managed to scrounge up, in total, around 45 votes, that's pretty much double the size of GhostHawk (or Magician) and Kley's votes combined. Instead of going with what the majority of the community wanted, you chose the lowest-voted people.
Here's what I would have done in a situation like this. If you thought that having a vote for the new moderator was a good idea, at least go with the highest-voted person on that list, because that would be logical. An even more logical approach to this would to have not done a poll in the first place, because regardless of who was on it, there would always be bias, and people would bitch and complain about who moved on and who didn't. The administrators should have privately discussed the need for a new moderator, they should have laid out a list of participants they could have picked and chose, why they should have been chosen, etc., because that's the administration's job. Pick and choose a new staff member.
Oh, and yeah.
<Joey> Reminds me
<Joey> I owe you reasoning as to why you weren't in the top 10
<The8bitmushroom> No you don't.
<The8bitmushroom> I don't see why you think you have to.
<The8bitmushroom> I already know why.
<Joey> No, you don't.
<The8bitmushroom> You and the staff don't see me as a good staff member.
<The8bitmushroom> I wouldn't qualify for it.
<Joey> That's the base, yes.
<The8bitmushroom> Besides, I didn't get into the top 10 because of the poll resets, so that's blatantly obvious.
<Joey> What we were actually thinking
<Joey> Was that people would bitch if we put you in over Gratsel.
<Joey> That was my original plan, because I knew you were more qualified than she is.
<Joey> And I knew you had more votes before the resets.
<Joey> But then we came to the conclusion that people would bitch if Gratsel wasn't included
<Joey> and the opposite ended up happening
<Joey> But we didn't pay much mind to it, because in the end, neither of you were going to get promoted.
<Joey> So, yeah.
This only proves my point farther that the poll was a bad idea, because you even came to the bloody conclusion that people would bitch about certain users not moving on in the voting.
In the end, this poll just turned into "okay admins pick and choose your favorite out of these five people". It's hilarious and stupid. You did a good job on choosing new staff.

8bit's post is incredibly right and the poll definitely seems like it was hastily put together, as he said. Everybody wanted Natsu and Blueoak to be the moderators; they should've gotten the positions. They're clearly very trusted and have worked hard to get there.

Hey, I tied for 6th, which in retrospect is actually very good. It shows that I at least had some supporters, and in the end, that is all that matters. Well, that and the fact that I went to an actual awards ceremony, got nominated two weeks earlier, and won, so in this case I no longer care that I lost this competition, and for that matter, got nominated for mod in the first place. However, I am kind of disappointed that blueoak did not make moderator. That in no way keeps me from congratulating Kley and GhostHawk. You guys also deserved it as much as anyone else.

I don't think anybody really cares tbh.
But for the sake of contributing, I don't think natsu was particularly deserving of the job. Just because he got a bunch of votes from friends doesn't mean he's the right choice for a moderator.

This. I agree with everything 8bit has to say. Even though I may not like him a whole lot, he is correct about everything there. You basically set the poll up just so you could promote you wanted to. Not what the user-base wanted. Is anything you do ever what the user-base wants? You truely are the most biased person I've ever met. First with me, next with the votes, and now your decisions are even biased. Do you really listen, or do you ignore everything? People want answers and reasons, Joey. Blueoak and Natsu, whether I know them or not, should be the new staff now. The votes of the community speak for themselves.

I also think a poll was a bad idea. The whole thing was more of a popularity contest rather than a moderator election.

Why and when would a mario forum come ahead in someone's life rather than a exam? It's more of a question to Blueoak than you, but I just don't understand the logic behind it. We're here on a forum about a mario fan game from about 3 years ago; we aren't government officials voting for order.
In short, a poll was a bad idea.

I went and said he delayed himself revising for exams, but I'm not entirely sure if that's true or not, I only know he keeps talking about his exams constantly, so I might be wrong there.

8bit: I'd have to agree with your rant on how the poll was conducted. It was unfair that a lot of votes were knocked out with the resets, however nobody was taking it seriously since votes went all over the place constantly. That isn't a justification either, just another issue. That being said, the votes being casted were also biased, so it's not like the staff alone were orchestrating the entire election up to the results.
This was just a bad idea, and nothing more.

Wow, wow guys calm down a little bit. I have so much to say here that I may not even be able to say it all at once.
I appreciate the fact that you guys support mine and blueoaks regarding the matter of fact we actually got so many votes, it is indeed really touching to get so much support. On the other hand though, I have to say I never actually got any expectations on getting the job, regardless of either winning or losing the poll, since I knew that as a conclusion, the staff would decide which of the top 5 most voted users would get the job. I knew from the start that things would end up like this. Not trying to be credulous. In fact, many people knew this already, as you, Joey, see so many posts regarding disagreement towards your decision by so many people, including Knux, Reizenni, 8bitmushroom, and etcetera.
Honestly, if I kept doing this was because I had faith on the fact that Joey would prove me wrong, but it seems he didn't, which is kind of disappointing. I know for sure Joey does so many things wrong, but that's what is about being Staff Member. As humans, we all comet mistakes, or at least that's what I wanted to believe. Joey, honestly, in my personal opinion, of course many people may think as I do, you're not exactly fit for the position you currently have. I may recognize you try to make things go right, but sometimes intentions aren't enough, overall if your main goal is to ignore the user base opinion and choose with your Admin mates whoever you want. In one word, you're just being totally selfish right there. And like I said while debating with you regarding how "unnecessary" stuff shouldn't be removed just because of such fact, ignoring the user base isn't something an Admin should do.
But you know what? I'm not mad at you. On the other hand, I'm kind of grateful since I finally saw there's no point on trusting you may change anymore. You might do it, but not anytime soon, or so I believe. That's why I made a forum, and honestly I don't care if it is considered advertising at this point, everybody is invited to join. I don't know if you guys prefer originality over quality, but I wouldn't handle things ignoring the user base, that I guarantee.
Either way, keep doing stuff like you currently do, I guarantee a not very bright future for you on Forum Administrating.
Note to Kley and Ghosthawk: Congratz on getting the job, I'm sure based on the little time we know you'll do and possibly learn a few things if you haven't. Can't say I know everything about you guys to be honest. Good luck!

Hate to say we told you so, Joey, but what the hell do you think we've been saying this whole time? You can deny it, you can even run away from it, but you can't do so forever.
