Re: [PSA] Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

So Bowser's Fury has supposedly been leaked on the Internet, so be very careful when browsing if you want to avoid spoilers. Anyway, because of this, all discussion of the game outside of what has been released by Nintendo specifically will be restricted. Discussion of areas outside of what Nintendo allows people who received review copies to release to the public* will be banned completely. All other information that has not been released by Nintendo themselves must be placed in [ spoiler ] tags. Anything that does get released by Nintendo, as well as all of Super Mario 3D World (unless some major new thing gets added to that, then the new thing specifically is also subject to the the restrictions around Bowser's Fury), can be discussed freely without restrictions.
*: show
The areas Nintendo has allowed people to release information about are Scamper Shore, Pounce Bounce Isle and Fort Flaptrap. The fights with Fury Bowser (when Mario collects a giga bell) have not been allowed to release, so discussions about those are also not allowed.

Now that Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury should have released in all regions, you may discuss the game in its entirety now. Please put all spoilers in spoiler tags.

mini review: show
I've completed the entirety of Bowser's Fury. Took me about... 8 hours or so (split across two days). It wasn't as long as I had hoped, though the content that was there was really fun. Obviously i wasn't expecting Nintendo to come out with a game the size of, say, Super Mario Odyssey, and hey, atleast we got the mode at all - Nintendo weren't obliged to make it, and they could have just ported SM3DW on it's own, so i'm really glad it even exists.

One gripe i had with the game was that each island / subarea basically all had the same goals - get to the lighthouse, get 5 shine shards, let fury bowser break a set of blocks... it felt a little bit repetitive (emphasis on the little), though each of these islands had a unique theme so it wasn't like you were replaying the same set of challenges throughout. The only other *super minor* issue I had was that to unlock new challenges in an area, you would have to collect a shine from somewhere else (fair enough though, since the areas actually update between main missions - I really liked that!). It only meant the missions didn't flow as smoothly as other 3d games in the series (in most games you can generally hop straight into the next mission of an area after completing the previous one).

Anyway, I really don't want to highlight issues, because frankly these were minor nitpicks more than issues. Overall I really enjoyed Bowser's Fury. Honestly better than i was expecting, Nintendo did a great job with this!

I'll be starting SM3DW tomorrow. Not expecting any new content (which is fine, since Bowser's Fury is the new content) but it'll still be fun to play through again!

Been playing this since I got it yesterday. Did not play 3D World on Wii U, so being able to play it for the first time is amazing. I love it so much, it feels like what 3D Land should have been but also it's own thing in so many ways due to the added variety of content. It even looks and sounds better than Mario Odyssey at times.

I won't play Bowser's Fury until I'm done with 3D World but I'm really looking forward to it.

I've had 3D World + Bowser's Fury since April 25 and I gotta say, it's a really fun game package if you haven't played 3D World yet and you have a Switch instead of a Wii U. 3D World has a really nice story and fun levels with fun gimmicks (some of which are now added to SMBX2), a postgame featuring playable Rosalina and one of the hardest challenges I've ever beaten, and fun with online multiplayer. For Bowser's Fury, I personally think it's got one of the coolest boss battles in Mario series history, and I'd love to see more battles with a scarier take on Giant Bowser, as with the case with Fury Bowser. Although it was a small campaign, it was a really fun little slice of a game, and it was fun roaming around in the open-world setting of Lake Lapcat. I wanna see Nintendo do more of these!

Right now I'm also working on 100%-completing 3D World. I've did the hardest levels like Champion's Road and Mystery House Marathon with all characters as I speak. It's very much worth it!
