After looking back at the current rules for the Projects forum I think it would be easiest to archive the topic and put a sticky explaining the reversal of rule 1 and changed expectations. The example project thread can go as well. I'll work on a draft for that and hopefully if there's enough consensus on this we can move forward with it.

Wait. If you change the rules, why archive all project threads again? I'd say we don't need the effort of people recreating their threads and asking staff to give them the BBcode. Or do you say that Projects is supposed to be wiped with no replacement?
nvm I misread

The post above yours only suggests archiving the rules thread and making a new sample project.

Yeah, the rest of the threads will be grandfathered in but not under any obligation to continue operating under the current requirements. I noted that in my draft for this change. I also noted that the bounds for the forum will ultimately be between creativity and collaboration, and the only restriction will be on frivolous threads not in those bounds. That leaves it open, and I didn't feel like a small rule set was necessary for any minimums. For now I just want to wait on more opinions about this and any other changes.

Perhaps it might be worth detailing the planned change in a public announcement pre-implementation. Some sites and services I frequent do this to get some last-minute feedback on the proposed change. It would help more people be aware of the idea, too, since not many people appear to visit this particular subforum.

Yeah sounds good. I'll post an announcement with some bullet points and a link to this thread later today.

The announcement is up. Also when I was thinking of a replacement for the example thread, I kind of hit a funny wall. All the rules are basically around showing screenshots for proof of progress, but an example thread can be made for a project that doesn't exist and thus has no progress lol. I couldn't really do that for a concept thread because I really don't have any projects in mind and it'd be weird to try fake concepts. Kind of ironic, but I think the frivolous threads I worried about before won't actually be a problem after this little observation.
