Face it, behind 2013, it was the worst year we've been through, so far.
Some good did come out of it, and it is the most significant year of my time in this community but it wasn't perfection.

2013 was the worst year, yeah, and 2012 wasn't any better. 2011 was alright, but I still think 2010 was the best year because we saw a lot of changes.

I believe 2013 was the worst year to date, and yeah, 2012 was a lot better, that if we ignore the fact that such hatred wasn't spreading so freely like it did on 2013. It's ok to consider that there was a lot of hatred going through and back, but not like on 2013. Since I joined on 2012 I can't say much about 2011 or 2010, but taking your words guys it seems I've been through the worst part. =P

It pretty much did. Virtually all major users who didn't leave the community altogether were there by late 2010 from what I remember.

Aside from opinionating on how great or bad each year is, I would say that in general our community has been through so much shit and greatness. We're all pretty good now.

But being on topic (which wasn't why I posted but whatever) I barely remember smm at all. I think he did an episode with Blarg called "Bowser's Brain Control Takeover" but I could be wrong.

I remember joining Knuxforums in December 2010 only to post a few things here and there; TrekWeb was the main forum until April 2011, and people had began to migrate around February.

2013, the way I see it, was everyone having an outburst of opinion that was built up over the course of the community's history (mostly 2012). I guess it was cathartic, in a way, but it was still pretty nasty. I guess it's better to speak relatively though - it's not like any time in this community has been legitimately terrible and unenjoyable for everyone, but 2013 was definitely the least fun for me.

Anyway, 2013 was more than the "least fun". Also, the main reason all of this happened was the merge, and Knux's Forum despising everything about SMBX: Revived. It's not like this came out of nowhere, it was a reason, and users didn't downright say "I want this to be a crappy year!". I never said that, either, and I managed to create tons of drama on SMBX:R. For another note, I'm glad Knux's didn't merge with NSMBX; that would just be chaotic, since NSMBX was a quiet forum, and Knux's has drama, and that mixture would be horrible with users arguing. NSMBX and Cloud's was a good choice, since they are both quiet forums; therefore, I solemnly respect reghrhre's and Cloud's final decision.

i feel as though right now the community is probably in the best position it's ever been in. like we've pretty much got our shit together by now (keywords: pretty much) and the events of 2013, (as much as some of us probably hate to admit it) helped lead up to the creation of this forum

I would definitely agree with this. I think the drama around Knuxforums and SMBX Revived last year kind of finally helped us figure out what works and what doesn't work with the community. Most if not all people seem to agree that the administration here works pretty well, even if not everybody agrees with Joey all the time, and the Knuxforums are still alive for people who want that kind of community.

I don't remember anything about 2009. I did play SMBX back then in 2009, but I joined the community in 2010. The only thing I remember about 2010 is that TrekWeb shut down and everyone moved to Knux's, if I recall correctly. I joined Knux at January 2011. I don't remember any remarkable situation happening in 2011 as I left in like, middle 2011 and came back in year 2012 near the end of the agtiger issue. 2012 was probably the best year, but only for personal reasons, because that's where I have accomplished most. 2013 was... the most chaotic year I remember, at least for the NSMBX half. The SMBX: Revived part had just minor drama, but that's what a merge's impact is like. Everyone had to get used to it, complained about the merge or even left, but it felt fine. The time with SMBX:R was actually calm and enjoyable. 2014 looks like a pretty good year, though. The merge succeeded and everyone lived on. We have one SMBX community that I think we are all satisfied with. I'm kinda grateful to Joey, because without him, that wouldn't be possible, and to Knux for leaving his forum behind to try this. I know his forum is back, but I don't really mind.

Unenjoyable isn't a correct English word, but I doubt anyone cares. I think you should stop correcting people as you'll just look like a smart-ass, and that's not what you want I guess. Besides, they clearly don't enjoy it.

I also like how this is totally on-topic, but I guess it's still interesting. To keep my post at least a little bit relevant, yes, I remember SMM. He did seem like a quite nice guy, even though I disliked his action with taking reghrhre's founder rights, but he apologized afterwards, so I think it's fine. I wonder how he's doing right now.
