Some of the files in the download are .gifs (mainly fill tiles), but others, which have transparent pixels, are .png. So it's kind of a toss up.

Uh why? 2.0 uses mainly pngs, especially maglx3.
But they would still work in 2.0 beta 3 as gifs but i forgot if maglx3 still supports gifs so yeah the better option is clearly pngs (also 38A uses pngs so it will make my life a bit tiny easier).

Do as you wish; in my file there are both .pngs and .gifs (more of the former), so you can include them as you want.

All right, I'm gonna make them in the .png format (and maybe convert them to .gifs). Also, I was hoping to add some more shading to your already made graphics. Mainly for the grass so that they have some shadows under the grass. It'd be better if I showed you.
Here:
This is just a test and a demonstration of what I want to do (definitely not finished). I was hoping to also adjust the colors and make minor adjustments to your graphics. However, if you don't want any of this, that's fine. I just feel making slight adjustments to the graphics will help expanding the tileset much easier.

Well I've been pretty busy with other things, but I've finally gotten around to this and have most of the foreground done.
I also plan on reshading various SMB3 background objects to match this more as well. Mainly, I'd like some feedback on what I have so far.

I feel that the main tiles look very... rectangular, but that gives a nice feel to it. You did a good job with fixing the shading, too!

Well finally got some BGOs added. As of now, it only consists of recolors, but I still think they look good.
I would like to expand and add more to this tileset, but I have been pretty inactive when it comes to SMBX. At least, at the moment. So far now, I'm done with this tileset and have a full download for it. Though, I would love to come back to this later.
Go ahead and add this download to the main post if you like.
