TIEBREAKER OVERTIME - MaGLX3 - VOTE for Community-Selected Judge!!

SO!

Tonight I've checked the results, and wouldn't you know it, we've got a two-way tie for first place. I ain't saying who did and whatnot.

With that in mind, I'm going to allow two more days for everyone else who hasn't had a chance to vote for who they want. Consider this to be the SUDDEN DEATH portion of the voting.

If the tie remains, I'll make the final decision.

Peeps that haven't voted got 48 hours to vote!

And with that, the vote is now closed! The tie has been broken, and the judges have been chosen.

Announcements regarding judges and the HUB designers will be coming up soon!

Judge RESULTS + Update! - MaGLX3

Heyo!!!

Some items of business:

1)

First, some bad news.

So it might seem obvious (or not) that I may be stalling a whole lot with updating everything X3 related. There's kind of a really big reason for that. Essentially, what I'd really want for this contest is the Beta 4 version of SMBX 2.0, where people can start using it and enjoying it for the contest itself. Not only that, but I would like to include many of the new Beta 4 NPCs into the gimmick to add more variety to choices.

Lastly, if I run a contest through the current Beta 3, I'm afraid that there'd be a good possibility that many levels made for the contest might break after updating to Beta 4. So, I would like to wait for Beta 4 to prevent that problem.

However, the development of the next Beta is taking up a LOT more time than I ever really anticipated, forcing myself to wait to run the contest until it can be finalized. Initially, I was hoping that I could get this contest started before the end of August, but that obviously hasn't happened. And here we are at the end of August, with the dev team currently waiting on some PGE plugin tech to continue, which the wait for that tech might take up to two months.

Because of this, I can very likely confirm that the actual contest won't start unfortunately until late Q4 of 2017. It sucks!!! I know! I'm already hyped up for this contest and I'm excited to host it, but I'll have to ask y'all to be patient until the contest starts.

On the flip side, however, I'd like to start development for the actual contest episode now so that the wait after the contest is over may be significantly less.

So, with that in mind.

2)

At this current point in time, the thing that I need most is MUSIC.

To all composers that have signed up, I'm going to contact you all within the next day or so with some information you'll need when creating your song. I know 1 or 2 of you that said that you wouldn't be able to produce something until a month or two, but seeing as we're delayed for a bit means that that shouldn't discourage you from wanting to write something up.

I'm also totally ok with other folks who still want to compose a piece. I'm still taking offers from anybody to be a composer for this project, so feel free to contact me if you're at all interested.

3)

Along with music, I'd like to get started in the actual HUB for the contest.

MEET THE HUB TEAM!!!

Enjl
Pyro
The0x539

Having seen a good chunk of their work from LCJ project as well as helping in the development of SMBX 2.0, I have absolute faith in the ability of every person on this list. I'm super excited to see what shenanigans they come up with for this contest!

We'll be starting to work on the episode itself and try to get done as much as we can without the submitted levels so that the wait for the final product will be shorter.

Lastly, and probably the thing many are excited by the most:

4)

Time for the see who our judges are~!

Welp! The voting is over, and I can now say who the two pre-selected and community-selected judges are! Wow!!! I know right???

So, without further ado, here are your MaGLX3 judges!!!

From the Talkhaus Community
Hoeloe (Mango)

From the SMBX Community
Waddle Derp (Coconut)

The Community-Selected Judge
Zatsupachi (Cherry)

Funnily enough, these three judges were in the top 3 for the community vote, so I guess that says these peeps are the right people for the job! I really think they'll provide an excellent balance of preference and overall do a great job.

It was hard to turn down some of the applicants, as I felt that they all had some good merit behind them. I just want to thank each applicant again for applying and putting the initiative in applying. I hope to see you guys in the contest~!!!

Here are the results of the vote if any of you are curious.

Annnnd... that about does it for now with this update! Again, sorry for the unfortunate delay, and I hope that the wait for that will be as short and inconvenient as possible.

Anywho, thanks again y'all for participating!

Are these timeline predictions based on what Wohlstand says or what others are saying?

Either way I'm content with waiting. My first level after a long period of time will probably be maglx3 anyways.

Wohlstand has to re-construct PGE in order to support plugins, which he said would take two months. I don't remember if he's actually started as of today though, because he's been procrastinating on it by making a "stable release" for the current PGE. He claims that he's also trying to improve documentation on PGE, but it's exceedingly obvious what he also intends by the "stable release".

It's alright, there is a lot going on as of now and I think it's a safe and nicely thought idea of starting the contest off with beta 4.
Like i'm literally hyped here.

I've been preparing and enhancing my levels up to this point, I sincerely hope I can pull something worth while off for this contest.
I just hope the gimmick isn't too bad.

Not sure how this happened. Anyway, this does make me more currious on MaGLXIII stuff that is not related to Beta 4.

WOAH AN UPDATE sorta

Ok! So I've gotten a couple pieces of music for the X3 HUB, and I'm still waiting for people to finish up, but I'd still like to get as many as I could get. The offer still stands: if you'd like to compose something to for contest, please contact me with interest!!!

As for the contest itself, while we're still waiting on the PGE update (which has been given an ETA), I've been debating whether we should start the contest rather soon. If we were, it'd be around mid-January. Then again, we're somewhat close to the new beta, so I'm hesitant to start it up still.

Thoughts?

I want to help in the episode by any means necessary, but HUB design was given to Enjl/Pyro and Judges have also been decided. That leaves Music and Graphics. I can not compose music, no matter how hard I tried. I do not even have software to do it. I am also terrible at graphics, but even if I was not, Enjl is already a god of Graphics anyway, so that is null and void.

Edit: At this point, waiting for Beta 4 might be best?

Do you want any composed songs made in Famitracker and/or Defle Mask?

Why does it matter what programs you use as long as they are of quality? Also there's specific ideas Sturg gives that you have to base your music off of so it might be hard to use ones you've made previously. Also not 100% sure but songs reduced to a lower quality for NES systems may not be ideal. Could be wrong on that one though
