The worlds are themed, yeah. Not mono-themed for some, and one actually is run into once and once again later in the game.
Might as well post some more screenshots just to show that "no I did not cancel this episode yet! Yet!! Yet!!!"
Oh yes and I took them with multiple characters to highlight that you're not limited to just Mario and Luigi for this one. I mean, Mario called his friends, not his brother. Well, his brother tagged along. It's not like Mario was gonna stop him, he's actually pretty surprised Luigi didn't just stay home.

honestly i fucking hate that first level it's pretty meh in itself and it'll probably get redone
i think these screenshots are a little better than the second batch but yano that's ok nobody looks at this shit anyways
so like worlds have different levels you can go to because yeah sure let's increase the scale of the project, there's meme levels in there too for those that need some dank kush in their lives, and there's a few quick coffee break levels of different types too besides the previously mentioned bonus stages

Well, I wanted to check what happened to this because I noticed I haven't heard anything from it for over a month ... why is it cancelled? Do you wait for the next beta to come out?

I think he's converting it into a fangame, considering it says it's cancelled until it's converted to a new engine.

Not like it's hard to make a fangame, I just didn't feel like doing it in the long run.
It's entirely possible and within my realm, should I ever feel the need to do it.

as a bit of a several month bump, the episode is mostly done, i just have to make one of the ice levels, a few extra dungeons, and finish the final stage
star world and superstar world are gonna be addon content, if anybody ends up really wanting more i purposely designed the OW for expansion and stuff, too
