Bumping this and I'm also announcing that I've also joined the contest. of-course judges will not be judging their own levels. Good luck out there!

Will you have a backup judge for that then? ...or will judges have the unfair advantage of one less review for their average?

Sign me in. Also, you should have a backup judge. Otherwise the judges might have an advantage.

Hmm... That's a fair point... I mean, I don't really have anyone in mind for an extra judge. That being said, I don't think that one less judge will be a big issue.
EDIT: OK I'm going to be looking for a backup

EDIT: OK I'm going to be looking for a backup
Here is an example:
Judges give me the following: 7, 5, 6, 6. That would result in an average of 6, since 24/4=6.
If the judge gave the following to a non-judge, "7, 5, 6, 6"; that would mean I would have to give a 6 to that person just for it to be even.
If we have 7, 8, 10, and a 5 for me (30/4=7.5), then another gets a 7, 8, 10, and a 5; that would mean they need to get a 7.5 from me just to tie. In which, it gives judges an advantage by having it averaged differently. Hope this explains it.

I'd suggest changing one of the current judges to backup. I doubt (with no offense intended towards your contest) that you won't get more than a few submissions, so 6 judges (even though only 5 per level) is a little overkill imo

I have a question about SMW music. Recently, people at SMW Central managed to make so detailed SMW custom music you can't even say it's SMW. Take a look for example:

Yes, but only if you provide me with evidence of where you obtained it. ESPECIALLY if it's not a .spc file.
Overall though try to avoid these if you can find an alternative, but I will allow them with proper proof.

Well, while I have lots of sprites in the style of Super Mario World, but would rather not enter the contest, becuase good level design is challenging for me

Hey, I thought about something. In the episode containing all the levels you should use SMW Mario and Luigi custom graphics(or skins).

I planned on this. Don't worry about putting custom player gfx into your level, I will have this handled.

BING-BONG!
We've got 31 days till the end of submissions and applications!
As you all may or may not have seen, I have added an update to the first post, I won't repost what it is here, but it involves a beautiful set of buttons.
I look forward to seeing what you guys can do with this new info.
I'll be back in that "updates" spoiler occasionally with news, so be on the lookout. (Though I'll always add a post to announce an update...)
GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!

Is using the switch blocks are optional because of the thread's update ?!
