This is probably a stupid question but how does the source code contain Nintendo IP anyway? Those hardcoded graphics I've heard so much about?

I assume that there would be references to "Mario" and such in the code, which could be what he meant. I believe the hardcoded graphics are separate from the actual source code, though - they're just part of the launcher.

Any graphics and sounds that come with the game (hardcoded or not) as well as text such as "Mario" and "Goomba" are Nintendo IP and therefore not to be distributed by Redigit.

For concerns of intellectual property, all that really needs to be changed is the graphics, music, and audio. Even an SMB3 Bowser fight can be reskinned so that nobody would recognize the similarities.

I'm glad that this is announced, but I honestly don't think that Redigit's and your goals line up. If all the Mario references had to be stripped out, it wouldn't help 2.0 at all, because the 4 new NPCs are all straight from Mario World or SMB3. Not to mention Megaman's by Capcom, Snake and Bomberman are by Konami, Klonoa's by Namco, etc. It WOULD help PGE, I admit.
