It's quite simple to build a time machine:

Step 2: Go back to the present.
Step 3: Give the time machine to your past self.
Step 4: Kill your future self to prevent a paradox.

Umm, if you can break the Cosmic speed limit, you go back in time. Nothing can go beyond. A tachyon spends iit's lice going I reverse. They can never slow down to the speed of light, as such, we can not reach that speed our selfs. However, you travel faster through time as you are closer to a more gravitational dense object. You basically life longer orbiting a black hole, standing next to a giant Egyptian pyriamid, or the like compared to someone who never goes near an object that is more gravitationaly dense than a television.

Also, if you are traveling the speed of light, and you throw something, or move in the direction (I.e. run on a train going that fast and it slows every thing else down by compression. It is the universe's way to prevent backwards time travel. Travel to the future I'd possible and quite easy, if you have the knowledge and materials. Just good luck with the black hole...

You guys are missing the easiest method:

1. Take one stick.
2. Break it in half.
3. Two halves make a whole.
4. Jump through the whole.
5. You are now in the 7th dimension.

But I'm still trying to uncover the science behind it.

Come to think of the science, nobody has convinced me that you'd be able to arrive in the new time period with clothes on. Even a Koopa shell could be lost in travel, and Toad could come out bald. Both cases are conditional though, and they might be okay.
