What the hell why? You don't need to learn Lua, just use LunaLua it's not going to hurt ANYTHING and it's basically standard now, so I won't be surprised when people stop telling you it's needed on the episode topic. Not to mention it's not hard to use APIs, it requires like 3 lines of code you can copy-paste from elsewhere.
For example:
Code: Select all timerApi = loadAPI("leveltimer");
function onLoad()
timerApi.setSecondsLeft(300);
timerApi.setTimerState(true);
end
Put that in your lunadll.lua file in the levels graphics folder and boom! You got a level timer, all you need to do is change 300 to the time you want.
He said he's using LunaLua for episode that requires it.
Also LunaLua would only be the standard once SMBX 2.0 is out of beta.

Do we really need the discussion, of lunalua being the god here again.
Also why tell someone to use lunalua? Let him use what he wants.

I meant,
I use it for episodes that are required for it, they only thing that looks hard for me to learn is coding. I mean I like to add more gimmicks into my project, but to me it takes a long time to make the piece if code work. I know how to add hardcoded graphics. But do we need a specific code or just paste it in our episode folder?

Because LunaLua not only allows you to play episodes that use it (as well as episodes that don't), but also fixes a bunch of bugs and problems with 1.3.0.1, such as the "mushroom touching lava causes the game to crash" bug. There are literally 0 reasons to use 1.3.0.1 without LunaLua, and many reasons to use it with LunaLua.

1.4.2 was basically the thing that got me making levels again. I've been pretty uninspired lately, but with the new stuff that's been introduced and the few morbid issues the original release came with now fixed, I've come up with a ton of new ideas. If I had the time to be able to sit down and take a few weeks to really learn the way of the almighty LunaLUA, then I'd probably be using 2.0. Depending on the near future, once PGE becomes compatible with SMBX 38A (1.4.2) I may continue through PGE as normal. Until the get the chance to actually take a half decent stab at LunaLUA, 2.0 will be sitting on the backburner.

As I already said you DON'T need to know how to script, just how ro copy-paste limes.
Actually, once the new beta of 2.0 comes out, you won't need that at all for the new players, and I don't see NPCs being far off either.
