Oh right. Wouldn't that have also had a knock-on effect of bumping up the filesize of SMBX, thus increasing the download time?

That... actually sounds plausible. Do you have a source on that?

Ask Redigit.

Do you have source that Redigit couldn't recolor a sprite sheet? Oh wait thats not the actual answer. Whatever.

No, because the original forums are gone. No one has a source on basically anything Redigit said back then.

It would have bumped it up possibly another 30-100MBs, depending on how many colors he wanted to do (which in SMB3, it used 4 different colors for the starman).

No offense but how am I supposed to believe you if there's no source on anything the guy said?

Please tell me the last time I lied about something. Feel free to not believe me, but what I'm saying is the truth.

So now Redigit turned into the guy? Fine just believe what you think and don't believe the true answer.

Am I supposed to say his name every time I refer to him? Oh sorry, Am I supposed to say REDIGIT'S name every time I refer to REDIGIT?

I would love to believe the answer Xerx gave me, but as both him and I have said, everything Redigit said is gone now. I could say that he posted a video on the original forums of him doing the samba in a Santa outfit and it would be just as plausible. I am allowed to have my doubts and suspicions, just like you're allowed to make mediocre-looking projects and abandon them after a week.

The theory about him not figuring out how to make flashing colors is completely wrong. Look at the Billy gun, Toothy the Piranha, Kamikaze Koopa, Link's sword beam and many more.

No it's not wrong, because all of those use frames of animation in a sprite. Redigit couldn't do that with the characters because of, at the time, how many sprites there were for each of them.

I literally love how everyone is dismissing XerX and my answer about the flashing colours lmao shows the standards of this forum good.

yeah how dare people question things. everyone should accept the answer given to them and not look into things themselves at all.

The original question was why is there no answer. The only answer which is right was from me and XerX as even redigit himself said it. We had a thread like this a year ago and people accepted the answer. But meh.

no you and xerx claimed that redigit said it. we can't know for sure because there's no concrete proof.

Olay that is just a stupid reply let's be honest with that.
Also we're not claiming we happened to be in the old forums unlike you. Somehow talking with you is like talking to a wall tbh.

I believe Redigit actually said it over IRC - I don't remember when it was and I didn't see him say it, but I remember somebody had quoted it and put it in their quit message.

Huh, and all these years I though Linik's answer (that he though the star would be abused in level design) was the correct one. I have no trouble believing your answer though, XerX, it seems very likely considering a lot of the other choices he made.
