There's a perfectly valid reason for that! And the reason is that 8-bit Link looks really stupid and awful, and Kentona hated it.
If I'm honest, about half the tiles and enemies graphics cheat at being 8-bit anyway. The goal wasn't to create a game within NES technical limitations, it was to make the game look basically 8-bit to an untrained eye in order to evoke nostalgia.
May I replace the default link when I live stream this tomorrow? Anyway, I beat this in one sitting 99% (The last percentage point would come from ciewing the SMBX credits whih is not pressent)

It only has about 35 levels and that only takes an hour or two. I just wanted to do a practice run of it... ...you know... ...before I life stream it 99%

Go for it if you want to, sure. Post a link to your twitch stream and I'll totally watch, I bet some of the other developers who helped make it would be interested also.

What kind of modified version? Plus when I got into the site, it said that I must simply select the game in the folder that I downoaled so it's kinda strange
Gonna take this chance to say, I love this episode and wish somebody would take time to make another huge Link episode like this. its tough but it rules. Still haven't beatin it.
I just started playing through this, and haven't gotten too far, but so far, I love it. It really makes me wonder how I never noticed as a kid that so many of the monsters in Zelda II behaved just like the ones in SMB... haha
Congratulations on a great game! I look forward to playing through it the rest of the way.
I "finished" game and have encountered several problems: First the ending level won't work it says error 13 type mismatch and then every time I launch smbx, several sounds (or even the music) won't work, what can I do?
