I think people should use what they wanna use. I mean Discord sure says they give u safety and stuff but.. Every single thing on the net has a backdoor. And i am dure Discord does also so i wouldn't say it's better or superior.

A.) That site means nothing considering it's a blogging site, is not secure, and the pages it leads me to when I click on the text that's supposed to explain everything leads me to some random website in another language. A lot of the links don't lead to anything to what they are saying.
B.) I never said people can't use skype to get your IP. That's easy af.
C.) The website says some things about skype that nobody has every seen to have problems with, such as "Skype Restricting our Communications" or anything.

A.) Okay, so since it's a blogging site, and is not "secured" by SSL certs, it's automatically declared "unreliable"? Ok. Also is your browser broken? The article I linked is clearly in English, and the links in the article work fine and are relevant if you are actually reading everything.
B.) So you admit Skype is super insecure. Yet you continue to use it?
C.) "Skype Restricting our Communications" : 20 people to a call unless you pay a subscription fee, forcing updates on users (I've had that happen to me countless amount of times.), Filtering every message and deleting anything they may deem "bad". Yup, totally never happens.

Do you have any solid proof that Discord is using our data? Do you have any proof that they are filling us with your so called "bullshit" about safety? Nothing is 100% secure, but DiscordApp sure as hell is 200% more secure than Skype will ever be. "Shady" practices? Like what? I've spoken with the developers countless times and they specified that they don't sell any of our data, and that they don't log any content of our messages. There were even a couple of new users that came online and personally asked the devs about security and their ToS and EULA, and the devs kindly went over it with them, and even went back to read over their own terms to make sure what they wrote was what they wrote, because the users were somewhat confused about it. I honestly can't see this team of developers do anything shady at all. You can literally ask them anything you want about Discord. They'll tell you. Tweet them. Ask them on their server. Email them. Even ask on their Reddit. Next time do some research before you spout conjecture.

First off, Discord has only recently entered the competition. Second off, what proof is there that Skype uses any personal info besides some random blog on the internet. Also, I didn't mean that the site was unsecure like everything else on the web is; right next to the URL, at least in Chrome, it says whether or not a website has secure encryption, and Chrome says that site uses an older form of encryption and is not secure. Finally, every application says "We won't use your data," and for the record, two people are not going to always tell the truth; they are trying to get people to use their software. I'm pretty sure Apple has said "We don't collect personal data'' as well as Google, so don't give me this crap about how they are telling the truth; they aren't programmed to always tell the truth. Finally, I have done research; it's clear to me that you want to refute my entire point even if it means making faulty attacks against my argument.

I'd recommend to actually begin to read evidence being presented to you instead of writing it off because it's simply on a blog.

By default ads can use all of your personal info (age, sex, etc.) to target ads to you, and there isn't a way to disable ads when turning this off meaning that any ad contained in skype may be able to track you.

Message content is saved on Skype servers, meaning that anyone who can get into your account from anywhere in the world can see your messages and info. I know this first hand.

When skype first came out, or when Chrome first came out, nobody ever looked into it and everyone thought it was free from shady business. If Discord is an internet-based program, then it's highly unlikely that Discord would be any different from the others.

The difference between those 2 and Discord is that Discord is Open-Source. You could check the source code and see what lies inside of it and see how it works exactly. You're talking out of your ass without researching what Discord even is really.

Discord is objectively better than Skype because it doesn't have Minions.

Good thing my mind on discord changed now.

Also no botnet on discord gg no more daily spam and stuff.

Get an actual mobile device like an iphone/pod or android. Discord will never be on PSVita because Sony is picky with what apps they have on their consoles.

Now for my thoughts on Discord mobile; it doesn't seem to have any benefits. I mean, sure, it can be used to have group calls, but...can't you do that with regular cell phones without the need for discord? Mobile forms of these apps seem really useless to me; skype I only use to text my friends on Skype, so I guess Discord could be used in the same way, but the whole calling thing seems pretty pointless to me...

With that logic Skype is just as useless, as one of the main features of Skype is their "phone" support, where you can call phones, even on your iphone or android device. DiscordApp isn't just for voice chat you know. Discord also isn't just for phones/mobile.

Also PSVita was made from scratch and not based off of android.

Skype for desktop isn't useless. Skype for mobile is useless IMO.

DiscordApp for Desktop isn't useless. DiscordApp for browser isn't useless. DiscordApp for mobile may or may not be useless depending on how often you go out and want to keep updated.

But texting someones number costs money. In which Discord doesn't cost money if you text or do a voice chat. Theres a far difference between free and not free texting.

Well, it depends on how much information you give out on Skype; if you give out your email, physical address, date of birth, and a bio, then a phone number is better because while there is similar data to be found with a phone number, it's not as easily accessible. In general, I see what you're saying, though.

Why in the world would you ever give out any of that information. DoB is fine, but address and phone number isn't the smartest idea.

Ask Skype as to why they even have those fields in their profiles, then.

I've had a wall of text written as a response to this, but realised you'd find a way to twist my words to the point where they have no meaning, just to justify what Microsoft is doing with skype. However, I wanted to say hi regardless, to inform you that most of your posts in this topic are absolutely retarded.
