Exactly. You're taking points off for subjective things, and this is bad judging abilities. Believe me, I know, because I have more judging experience than you.
And don't tell me you're not taking points off for subjective things. You're using words in your posts like "in my opinion" and "personally", and these are things you should avoid when reviewing levels, because it's biased, and that's all.
Judging is all about sharing and evaluating based on your OPINIONabout something. You judge based on whether you THINK the level is good or bad, so zlakerboy is doing fine as a judge.
I have this feeling deep down that my level is going to make Tier 5, but following the scores I've seen so far, TNTtimelord tends to give slightly lower scores, and he gave me a 7.2 (he asked which was mine after judging ended, don't worry), so unless there are no levels that make average scores of 6, I'm much more likely to make Tier 6-7 than Tier 5.

So you're saying it's a bad thing to have an open mind and not judge based on what you think is the perfect marios?
BEcause that's not what a judge should do. That's being crooked.
This also doubles as a reponse to all the other posts using "judging is subjective. it's an opinion. deal with it." as a smokescreen to avoid having to think about how they review.

Not necessarily, no. Being open minded is obviously important, but that doesn't mean you can't also judge based on your opinions.
Relating to the points made earlier about criticism,

According to what you said earlier, opinions shouldn't influence the score, no?

There's a certain extent to where opinions really shouldn't be the whole review. Judging is about looking at the levels from every perspective you can and giving it the most fair, unbiased score you can.
While everything is essentially an opinion, a judge has to look into the core mechanics of the level and decide what score it deserves. To do this well, the judge has to have played many levels before, and know what warrants a high score, a low score, or an average one. There are some cases where a level simply would play badly in general, or play excellently in general. Levels play differently to different people, so judging is really about looking at it from multiple perspectives and deciding how good it is. The thing people need to learn about judging is that there is no one right answer. Almost every single aspect of a level is subjective. Giving a commonly-accepted-as-amazing level a 6/10 isn't necessarily a bad thing, because the person who gave it that score obviously felt that it played like your average level.
Now, contradicting that, I'd have to say that not every score is right for the right reasons. Giving a level a 10/10 because you are friends with the creator is an invalid reason. Ultimately, my opinion on this part of the equation in reviewing:
It's not the score that makes a review good or bad, it's the reasons why it got that score.

Nice Pokémon reference, and what do you all think of the level since you get first hand?
I think I WANT LUNADLL RITE NAO
Level looks really good, but is your episode gonna be in LunaDLL too? Also what tier are you in again?
Well, my episode will be able to be played without lunadll, all lunadll does is names every section and gives a timer! I can do both without lunadll, but that is actually more annyoing without Lunadll! Like pop-ups
Overall normal reviews for my level except zlakerboy357's. Do slight lack of bgos really make my level lose a few points? Thats a bit biased and I thought my bgos amount was good. And do SMB3 caves really need bgos? Since when did SMB3 ever have cave bgos.
